The usual madness of stat after statI want to know what Ricky’s reply was.
I think he's a massive weapon but I've been saying this for a couple years now. Who are the ones who are, generally, poor for us? Walcott, came from Arsenal. Gomes, came from Barcelona. Schneiderlein, came from Utd. Iwobi, for Arsenal. We keep going for players who don't consider us a step up and, often, consider us a step down. Now switch that around, who seem to be the ones working out best for us? Keane(this year but still), Burnley. DCL, Sheffield Utd, Richarlison/Doucoure, Watford, Godfrey, Norwich. Players who see us as a clear step up. Players who WANT to come here is paramount. We need people who consider playing for Everton is something they WANT to do. Same with Allan and James, even if the reason they came here wasn't necessarily Everton but Carlo, they came here because they WANTED to come here. They didn't need "persuading".Rodgers said he looks for players with hunger when recruiting. I honestly think that's where we go wrong.
I know what you mean, but I think it's honestly as simple as needing good players with certain attributes. I don't really buy into the idea that a load of players haven't tried or whatever, some of them just aren't very good and some of them are decent but don't really fit in. There have been good buys who were stepping up and good buys who were stepping down, and bad buys likewise. We have a squad of fairly unremarkable players in many ways - we don't really have many players with great physical attributes, and we don't have many with great technical attributes either. We need to improve in both those areas to really push on.I think he's a massive weapon but I've been saying this for a couple years now. Who are the ones who are, generally, poor for us? Who is he supposed to pick? I’m sure if he had a prime Pirlo and Gatusso to choose from, he would do, but as it stands, our 2 best midfielders are the two we bought in the summer, and they haven’t even been fit at the same time since about November. So Carlo is still looking to qualify for Europe and there we are 7th with a goddawful GD. For me it is not a question of the C/B's but rather the useless midfield but Carlo keeps picking them.
Unless we have a turn around with results fat chance of Europe.
You are right the midfield is poor. He’s improved it but this is a squad game. Doucs out and we’ve struggled for legs and energy. So Carlo is still looking to qualify for Europe and there we are 7th with a goddawful GD. ideally we sign a couple of real quality players with pace to burn. Throw in a few squad players to improve that woeful bench.
our bench is proper embarrassing.

Pace and athleticism is so important in the modern game. You can carry the likes of James because of his quality on the ball but you need legs around him. Look how the likes of Fabinho just ghosted through our midfield.I’m on this page.
And yes pace, not quick passing, as one of our issues is losing the ball high up the pitch and having players so slow they can’t get back. For that you need pace to quickly reform our defensive shape, unless we’re bending space and time.
Onyango looks big and rangey. And surely we must have a RB who can run in youth setup. Or try Small or something in there.I am one for giving some of our younger players a go or at least a bit of playing time as a sub.

Keeps picking the only available midfielders we have???So Carlo is still looking to qualify for Europe and there we are 7th with a goddawful GD. For me it is not a question of the C/B's but rather the useless midfield but Carlo keeps picking them.
