2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

My only issue is I’m still not 100% sure on what his preferred formation is.
Maybe how we started the season when he had a fit squad to choose from. Think during the 2nd half of the season with the injuries we’ve had he’s had to just be pragmatic at times with what he can do with limited options

I’m under no circumstances advocating we should get rid of him.
But some facts -
The football is absolutely atrocious.
We can’t win at home.
We haven’t taken a game to a side and played open and attacking football since Fulham in November and that was only for 1/2 a game.

we look indecisive, unsure and are playing like we are waiting for either Richy or Rodriguez to do something special and win us games, apart from that we have nothing else.

He needs to get more out of these players.

Ancelotti has came here, a nice cushy job knowing the fans will just be star struck by him and that he doesn’t really have to do anything because expectation is so low.

He’s getting paid one of the world’s highest wages and regardless of how he performs, he knows his reputation will stay intact because of past success.

This is just a nice little pension for him.

We need someone to build the club in their image. Not someone who’s seen it all and is just happy to ride it out. The man is 62.

The defence of Ancelotti is purely based on who he is and nothing to do with his performances as manager here.

Even in a lot of the games we’ve won, we’ve been extremely fortunate to do so.

You want him out though, which is a bit mad as we genuinely aren't going to get a more esteemed manager - we've tried the route of young managers, we've tried the arrogant approach, we've tried BFS.

Carlo is the best we're getting right now and has improved us. But, he's also made mistakes, and recently, made a fair few of them. Not helped by a crippling injury list and crap recruitment in the past.

I’d love to know who these would like in charge instead.

Gentlemen please.

There are many ends of bells around, GB, let’s not go to bed on an argument.
sorry officer i wish to offer goodwill to my floppy friend it is not his fault and i should be more supportive really.

Lads, he's been here a year and a half.

Bielsa had a team of jobbers playing his way in a month.

Don't get why so many fans just think it's all on the players that we've only got one bloke who can actually play togger.

What is the Bielsa way? Does it include being given a football lesson by a league 2 side of part timers in the FA Cup?

Well yeh, I think it’s 4-2-1-3 but maybe we just can’t see that properly yet. All I know is I never want to see us play 3 at the back again and I love that formation.

I'm happy to give him time too.

But we're a team - a club - that cries out for an identity. Carlo is a manager that has never had one. That's not to take away from his achievements, but we genuinely get outplayed by pretty much every team we face. That's a worry.

Now, I know we need better players, and Brands is a lucky man to be staying on, if he is, IMO, because our squad is so imbalanced and it's paper thin. But I'm not having that they can't be working on stuff like 'passing to team-mates' in training. Without James, who can't be relied on as good as he is, we have no way of playing with the footy. It's just hit and hope. Again, 16 months in (apologies for the poor maths) I'd expect better.
So let’s give him time to create his identity here as he’s said he wants to.

Aftet the dross we’ve seen, we’d be mad not to.

By that logic any team in the country that has better players than Morgan, Fuchs, Simpson and Huth should be winning the league and their manager should be sacked if they don't.

Leicester's title winning season is hardly the basis on which to define the norm. It was one of the greatest sporting upsets in history.
It’s not just about winning the league, it’s about being organised and getting more out of what you have.

He’s not the best we’re getting right now, though. He isn’t performing to some unattainable level that another manager could not achieve and I’m not even talking about elite level managers.

Spin your usual line.
You are not against carlo but...
Another who thinks they no more then him

I'm a fan posting my opinion on a fan forum.

I think most of us would agree we shouldn't be going 5-4-1 at home to Palace, with Gylfi right wing, Godfey right wing-back, Keane man-marking Zaha, and a player just coming back from 18 months out playing in the middle.

We were wasteful up top and that's on the forwards. But it's those same forwards who have one of the best chance conversion rates in the league - as we usually create so few of them.

I don't see how we can't do simple things or are so reliant on one player, who is 29 and can't be relied on to stay fit, to control our play and when he goes off, literally the entire team has to change to be camp on the edge of our own box?

His subs were crap and helped hand Palace the initiative.

The Godfrey sub was a mad one. He had a torrid time out on the right when he last played there.

Overall, it's just a matter of hoping that Ancelotti will continue to attract higher-profile names than we've been used to, and that this will lead to a quality group of players coming together. The clubs has to be able to back him properly, though.

He's a great manager, but I worry that this will end up being seen as a wasted opportunity due to Everton's limitations when it comes to recruitment.
