2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

There is zero pressure on him to perform thats the sad reality.

I have no doubt that he has a person will be trying his best as the top managers dont like losing but the root problem at this club is the same as its been in years:

No expectation to achieve.

Brands has wasted most of the £250 million he's spent in 3 seasons yet is rewarded with a contract.

Barely any players come through the academy yet heads do not roll.

Players like Gomes and Iwobi can stroll around week in week out whilst young players like Davies and Nkounkou are not given a sniff / roll of the dice.

There's too much nepotism at the club especially when the fans haven't been there to make their feelings known.

I'd imagine Ancelotti puts the expectation on himself, winners don't hang around to pick up a pay cheque when he can go to loads more clubs that are closer to the top and do that.

We just expect to get from A to Z skipping everything inbetween. Life doesn't work like that. Remember when we used to beat the oil barons for the first few seasons after they started buying up the world? Just need patience.

Same problem from top to bottom of the club - no pressure to perform.

Brands' work should have seen him sacked, never mind given a new contract.

Carlo is living off his reputation and will be deemed as having done well regardless of where we finish, somehow. In the past he's been blessed with full squads of quality players. Looks like he doesn't know what's hit him here and doesn't have it in him to get average players performing at 110%, ie what Moyes is doing at West Ham or Smith at Villa.

Players like Richarlison, Digne, DCL and Pickford know they'll play every single game if fit.

The likes of Iwobi, Keane, Holgate, Sigurdsson and Gomes know if they're fit they'll be in or around the squad.

I think it's clear now that the majority of those in the squad actually don't want Europe next season as it'll interfere with their social lives. The lack of effort is clear for all to see.

And let's look at it for what it is: Why would these young multi millionaires work longer and be away from their families when they are guaranteed the same money whether we finish 5th or 15th? I 100% believe that's the attitude from a majority of the squad.

You see that's where you have me wrong. You think I'm only taking this stance because the manager is Carlo Ancelotti. I'm not. I'd be saying the same thing about any manager at this point. The manager needs real backing at this point whoever he is because this endless cycle of hiring and firing managers is only go to hurt us long term.

I agree mate I said in the summer he wasn't backed enough imo as we needed a massive clear out - but there are too many fans who are happy putting 100% of the blame on the players and talking as if every other manager in the league is working with world class players. Biesla is 5 points behind us with a bunch of largely fizzy pop league players. Moyes is 5th with a similiar expensive squad of average players.

A key role in any managers job is to motivate the workers - it doesn't matter how great your spreadsheets are or how fancy your CV is if the staff aint putting in a shift

Thats the issue for me - man for man Pickford aside funnily enough none of them look motivated or have a spring in their step including our better players like Allan, Richarlison, DCL, Digne - thats on Carlo in my eyes.

Which takes me back to my issue with his quiet leadership philosophy - it works with world class players who are self motivated at clubs with a rich tradition of high expectation to achieve - it doesn't at a club with middle of the road players and no expectation to win things.

He has to change his leadership as we need a Sgt Major type manager constantly on our players imo

Is it this acceptance of mediocrity and failure by some of the fanbase the reason we dont succeed? The `better luck next time` isnt an attitude you see at bigger and more successful clubs!
It's barely been 18 bloody months and he's Carlo bloody Ancelotti.

A number of you simply don't seem to realise that Ancelotti is last chance saloon for Everton Football Club. If we sack him at this stage (not even giving him longer than Marco Silva ffs) then it's game over and we may as well all just give up on footy.

Luckily, I suspect his job is very safe, and so it should be.

He will be given the summer to build and shape the team and rightfully so. But this has been an extremely disappointing season, no matter what way you paint it - a few isolated results aside.

I just hope he implements a style of play and a shape to the team. We still look like we have no game plan, good players playing individually but not as a team. Could count on one hand how many games this season we've actually played well. More expected but hopefully a few first team players can come in and change it.

This is the scenario at the start of next season:

We’ve had another summer of bringing in first team players. A right back, centreback, central midfielder, and wide player have been added. More of the deadwood is punted out of the squad. Gbamin is back to full fitness.

Carlo starts at Goodison with a far stronger first 11 and a decent bench for the first time for any Everton manager since 13/14. European qualification and going deep in the cups will be the minimum expectation, derby wins will be expected, wins at the top 6 will be realistic. Work has started on the new stadium.

The crowd will be singing Carlo Magnifico.

Now tell me again how we haven’t progressed from Allardyce picking us up in 17/18 again and playing a back 5 of Martina Mangala Williams Jagielka Kenny.
