DONT start Holgate over Mina, DONT bring on Delph over Davies, DONT bring on a beyond rusty JPG. We can start there. I will not have this nonsense that squad selection is only bad because of a lack of options. YES it's a factor but come on now....

Mina has been injured. I don't get the Davies thing (well more the Delph thing really) to be honest and JPG had to get a game somewhere.

I don't like his chopping and changing of the defence personally but a lot of it is to do with us juggling players around as a lot of them are pretty bad. All the players you mentioned have big flaws in their game.

We were always skint under Moyes.

He had to beg borrow and steal, but we still managed to get Arteta, Baines, Jagielka, Pienar etc. We developed them into really good players.

Carlo is starting from a different place and has different expectations on his shoulders. He has bigger budgets and his own charisma is a greater draw. The football right now it turgid, but with time I expect it to become much more fluid and easier on the eye.
We haven't significantly changed the team since he came in, though. Those who have come in are clearly a level above the players we had, but haven't played enough together. It's no surprise that when they've been injured and we've had to basically play last year's players, the team has performed like they did last season.

That kind of implies that it's all on the players though regardless of who the manager is. It's not a bad thing to expect a little bit more from a highly decorated manager like CA.

But our culture under Moyes was "nearly men" who where never really going to threaten the big six long term.

You've already said ancelotti will need to change the club's culture before we see success, so why would you go back to someone who was a perfect fit for a club who's culture was happy to win eff all?

Did people really expect us to win trophies on a shoestring budget under Kenwright? Without Moist we would have been relegated had someone like Silva been given that early Moyes side with buttons to invest in it.

We did bottle games under Moyes but we also have bottled games with every manager since including Carlo such as the FA Cup against the RS kids which Moyes would have been hammered for.

We really do have to stop signing Dads army style over the hill injury prone players now - we need youth, or we will become a Dads' army team it costing a fortune in wages too......
Carlo will be nicknamed Captain Mannering - then we will be wondering who Pike is, & Corporal Jones & Frazier - we are doomed scenario are - Carlo has inherited a heel of a lot of deadwood, but please don't add to it......
Carlo & his scouting team need to look for young promising prospects like Godfrey etc no has - been's....
Just realised Gofey was in dads army :p

Argh at this point I want to stick a fork in my eyes so I don't have to read such things. We have Ancelotti and some want Moyes back. It's like having prime Pamela Anderson for a gf but you want Nora Batty as you always get a consistent Sunday roast with her.
You know what they say....The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Give me Nora any day :p

I don’t think we have truly won at Anfield, Spurs or Arsenal until we do it with fans in the ground if I’m being honest.

Equally there is no way out home form would be half as bad with fans.
Home: won 5 drawn 4 lost 8
Away: won 10 drawn 3 lost 3

From an entire league perspective, first season in top flight history with more away wins than home (according to The Times in March, which I think is still the case now).

“The pandemic-induced absence of fans is one contributor, but mental fatigue and a lack of intensity in the defensive press play a part, too.”

The condensed pre season is another factor.

Spot on Joey, what Carlo aims for with those signings is experience. Could say GP is becoming more like Fawlty Towers.

It is when it comes to desire and attitude on the pitch. We could play any formation/tactics and the result would be the same if the players have no fight.
