It's more dismay than surprise when we are left disappointed depending on the likes of Iwobi, Sig, and Gomes to make an impact.
We're getting nothing from them. The best we can get is that they look better than they are and can coast in games where we have James, Richy, DCL, and to a lesser degree, Holgate, and Digne playing.
We are not getting much without that group on the pitch. We know this. I'm not getting frustrated expecting Gomes to raise his game, he doesn't have it in him to the extent required. Nor the others, they prove that every chance they get.
We are still half a teams worth of signings from being properly competitive but can cause any team trouble when at full strength and in form.
We have to have better luck with injuries and use James carefully. And we can't have Richy being indisciplined, we pay such a big price.
Still well capable of regrouping and getting momentum back but have to do it soon. Also critical that we are active in January if we have any hope of getting Europe.

This Iwobi, Sigurdson Gomes selections is making him really look a bit ridiculous.
Captaining Sigurdson is the cherry on the top; wake up please Carlo!!!!!

The quality of the bench players has improved though. I do get your point, but Iwobi, Bernard and Gomes are better than Davies, Lennon & Klaasen, I still agree that some may be moved on, but it is going in the right dircection.
We had 5 or 6 injuries to first team starters and it's hit us badly. That is no surprise. If we want to get in the top 4 this season, we will need to get our best players on the pitch regularly.
Whatever has happened to Gomes also need to be resolved. It may be easiest done with him not starting games for a period.

What else is he gonna do?
As for the Siggurdson captain stuff. I don't like it. But he didn't make him vice captain, Silva did. And if the gang is happy with that, then that's how he's kept it

The team was instantly better last week when Bernard came on. Give Gordon a chance!
Not start Siggurdson or Iwobi. Not substitute on Siggurdson or Iwobi. Simple really. Put Bernard and Gordon above them in the pecking order. That’s what he should do.

What are you doing differently?
CA's first signings were 3 midfielders, all of whome went straight into the team 4/5 days after signing. He is not oblivious to the others shortcomings. He CANT however swap an entire 11 at once, it's not feasible. Also Sigurdsson is 3rd in line for Captaincy, C and Vice were both out of the game. Who else would be a better captain? Do not twist my words as well, Siggy is no by means an ideal on appearance (we have no idea how he is as a person around the group). However we dont appear to have any standout captain apart from Coleman.
Always been questions marks over leaders in our squad. Only other suggestion I think is Keane as he is clearly well respecetd. Allan would be great as he demands but he will also have limited english, not great for captaincy.
But Silva isn’t here. That should’ve been one of the very first things that was changed, not arsed one bit what the gang thinks.

Maybe he will now. End of the day, he tried certain players one week, didn't work out. Then tried others the following week.
He can't just drop players randomly and gives others a chance. Pickford was dropped, Gomes after the derby, Iwobi after Southampton. Siggurdson only plays due to injuries and suspensions.
If he think Gordon or Bernard can play a way he wants them to, they'll start. Simple. All depends on the game.
