2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

I suspect there's a few players who may already know this hence them playing as if with the proverbial flip flops.
Hoping that is the case, but it can't be. We won't have a number of our players lined up for moves - who on earth would want them? Nobody is taking Iwobi, Holgate, Keane, Coleman, Sigurdsson, Gomes off us. Nobody will pay a good fee for Richarlison. I just think the loser mentality is still as strong today as it was under Moyes and any manager we've had since the late 80s

What Bielsa shouts? That he’s done a good job? He has. They’ve had a good season and we’ve had a poor one.

As in getting him in over Carlo. All faith has evaporated in him that they expect someone like Bielsa to come in and get this squad of slugs to "perform"

I hate to say it, but Carlo has contributed to this mess by buying players with no pace.

Of course, Brands has to own it, but my faith in Ancelotti is rocked given his chasing of players who, though very good technically, have no pace and are hardly on the pitch.

This is not the job for Carlo at this late stage of his career. I'm sensing a huge piss take here.
As I see it, you’ll moan and pick up the negatives about the next manager and the next. Only blow out of proportion the negative points to suit an agenda.

Haha with the Bielsa shouts.

Feller has been in the management bin for years and the biggest club he's managed is Leeds.
It is not relevant, but, if we had been a top club then this might have been relevant. Bielsa had come into conflict with owners, players, and everything in the club. He would be too demanding, and you would never get players like Ronaldo to play this way. But we are not a top club, we are an average PL club that has not won anything in 25 years. If there is one thing Bielsa has experience with, it is just that. Transforming completely mediocre clubs to be able to compete with the best clubs. In addition, the fans will get lots of entertainment, in the form of many high-intensity sprints, speed, tackles, duels, etc. Such a type would be perfect for us.

I think that's fair; it is difficult to accept the home form, I'm sure I read that it's actually the worst in a single season for us since before the war or something like that. Nevertheless, I'm more getting at where we would expect Everton to be - the sad reality is that we haven't come close to winning a pot in 25 years and we've only ever been good in that time when we had a philosophy that ran through the club from top to bottom (Moyes). Everton will get nowhere fast without a clear plan, and an identity; Ancelotti is obviously better than what we could have, but fingers need to be pointed at the board. Expecting us to be challenging for Europe when our only European venture in the past decade has been getting bounced out of Kyiv, scraping wins against Slovakian glue farmers, and fighting Lyon players is madness.
100% agree with all of that.

You get suckered in when you get a big name manager signing and player signing in James. The season starts well. You beat the RS, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham etc away from home. A lot of teams having absolute awful seasons on their standards around us.

I think we lack an identity. I don’t know how we want to play. Most teams in this league you know their identity and how they are going to play. I honestly don’t know what our plan is on the field.

In the nicest possible way, the Bielsa shouts need binning off because he would never, ever leave what he has at Leeds for our dysfunctional lot, nor is Carlo going anywhere, as we literally cannot afford the payoff related to sacking a man on £10m+ a year. Stick to slagging the cowards off and lower your expectations, it will do wonders for your health

I could think of £11.5 million reasons why he would mate...

Sadly I feel Carlo Ancelotti is coming across as motivationally and tactically inept lately. If these type of performances carry on into next season I can see him gone by the end of the year; we can't get by on just winning away.
Hopefully, he can make a few decent additional signings (and offload some of our deadwood) in the summer. I still want to see him given more time, but how much longer is Farhad Moshiri willing to throw millions after millions down the drain only to end up pretty much where we've always been.

He'd have to turf them out and bring in his own players.

I mean, I know we had to get Ferguson back on the bench and out of the manager's seat, but the club have chosen poorly in retrospect. Moshiri - as always - seduced by the big name.

See Dave, I think Carlo can get it right but not with these players. I do think that's a fair point.

But, we should be better than this after 17 months, and that isn't just on the players.

So not sure if Carlo was the wrong pick. I think we've seen improvements. But we've also seen a lot of things which have stagnated or have got worse.

If James isn't fit, which we accept as a trade off, then we have this really defensive way of playing but it can get us points. We can mix it up in certain games (Leeds away a good example) but generally we sit deep and that does seem to make us look more comfortable.

But if James is fit, we try to play expansive, but if he's not playing well, which he didn't today, we're basically out of ideas.

Said it all season long, too much of our play relies on inch-perfect passes because we don't sustain moves, we can't build pressure, it's just aimless and hit and hope.

Sounds like a watershed moment from Carlo. Never heard him talk like that before.
Half that squad will be gine soon including 1 or 2 big names is my guess.

It won't be a watershed because we will give more chances to the repeat under-performers and the DOF will continue to sign slow technical players not suited to the PL or Everton football.

Nothing changes at this club. There will be a lot of talk of positives to take from the season and we will move on. No one will pay the price for nights like tonight because no one cares enough to change the things that are needed.

Why is that mate? As far as I'm aware it's nothing particularly offensive, is it? Genuinely interested as to why you'd take that stance.
Ok. For examples.

When @davek disagrees with me, he gives a rationale and a reason for disagreement. I think he wrong, but he justifies his view.

To simply say “deluded” isn’t an argument and in my opinion, is a mild insult. Would you say that to someone’s face?
