The scary thing is if he fails I doubt we'll go for a good replacement like Kovac, Poch, Allegri etc as the media will bang on about how we have tried everything and need to go back to someone who "gets the club"

Enter Big Dunc or Moyesiah

The kneejerking is incredible here.

Southampton are a genuinely good side this season and we had most of our best players out, we were outplayed and it happens.

Newcastle was a poor result and our second team should be able to compete with them but we lost and they still have some talent in their squad.

Yesterday the result could’ve gone either way in reality - Digne scores that chance and we go on to win the game.

Hopefully we have a bit of luck in this international break and get through it without injuries to our best players. I’m sure we’ll be back to our best next time out.

How can Dean Smith get Villa to bounce back by going to a Top 6 club and smash them (something we’ll never, ever do) but we just continue to tailspin?

We aren’t even confident about beating Fulham away. Ffs.

Villa have pace in their team - we dont.

I kept banging on about it all summer but without pace in your side you are nothing in this league

Kneejerking is after one bad result. We have just picked up 1 point out of a possible 12 and we continue to get worse.

Defence has been a glaring issue throughout the season, even during our good run, but the management don’t seem to know how to fix it.

The concerns being raised are entirely reasonable.

Our team is setup to get the ball from James to Richarlison. We have been without them or just one of them. Watch the difference when Richy is back in the team. Nothing to worry about here, just a blip.

Do need another Richarlison style player though.

Weirdly, Dunc is the only manager who's picked a side differently, with different players to try and produce something different. Thinking of Holgate and Tom in midfield and playing 2 up top. Sure, if he's given time he could revert to how all these managers do and have his favourites in a certain system and never change it no matter what. However, if he were manager, Gordon would be playing at least.

Not advocating him being manger. And definitely not advocating getting rid of Ancelotti either. Just making the case for Ferguson when it inevitably happens and saying maybe we could be worse.

I mean we need more than one way of playing because - as we’ve seen - we’re a suspension or injury away from looking like a very easy team to defend against.

stop James and then just stop Digne getting a cross in to Dom.

that can be worked on by coaching but ultimately we also need better players. That should have been addressed more than it was in the window - which overall was good - but again missing one or two vital pieces

Dean Smith had a whole season of nearly getting relegated before he discovered how to get Villa to bounce back. Do you think we’d ever afford Ancelotti that looking at the reaction on here after a few losses?
