They have a better GK, RB and arguably CB. Their CM is better than ours plus they have pace in abundance in attack, something we sorely lack. Overall they've got a better, more balanced team.

I think one more window of 3-4 new faces for the starting XI and we'll then be in a better position to challenge.
I always ask the kids I train: Who travels the fastest, the ball or you? If they say: I'm the fastest. Then I say ok, let's see. Then they quickly learn that speed in football is not about being Usain Bolt, but speed of thought.

Another example (I could have used Xavi and Inestia, but it would have been too easy) is Tim Cahill. He was nowhere near being particularly fast, but he always found free space on the field - especially (early in his career) he came running from behind into the room behind the defensive line.

I would rather say we need intelligent players, and maybe one or two with extreme physical skills.

Oh I know, they were on another planet, I’m just sick of people comparing our development to that of Man City as if we’re gonna take the same path.
To be fair I think the numbers would show that we still spent more.

City spent 32m on Robinho and it made everybody go WOW.

We spent 45m on Iceland and everybody went LOL.

It is unrealistic to compare ourselves with Manchester City. We do not have the financial muscle. Although there was one who argued that money was not an issue at Everton, and we ended up with Joshua King.

To become a top 4 team, we have to outcompete the big teams on completely different variables. It is incredibly difficult, and then we must become far more skilled in the transfer market, better tactically, better at data analysis, better at sports physiology, etc.

I dont know either, tbh. I'm happy with Ancelotti on the whole, but I doubt he'll do much better than where he's taken us thus far.

Bottom line: I think we're boring and predictable. I'm not enthused by our football. We get the odd big result but so what?
Our good friend Brands had better be on top of his game in the next two summer Windows...talking minimum 2 out of 3 / 3 out of 4 success rate or we'll be forever doing the deadwood removal polka.

As somebody said about the football quality - atm, we're just a very expensively assembled Burnley or some such to watch

Part of the problem is that Moshiri has done this the wrong way round. When he came in, he should have got a high profile manager in, and given him £200 million to spend on players to turn the club around. Instead he brought in 2nd rate managers and an unproven Director of Football and watched his money spent with no improvement, in fact a decline in the team. Then he managed to bring in the manager he should have got in the first place. But by then we'd signed a load of players on top wages, meaning nobody else wants them. Therefore he either needs to be patient, as do we, and build steadily over a 3 or 4 year period, watching the contracts of the expensive mistakes run down. The other option is to spend another £250 million, £160-£180 million on players, and £50-£70 million on paying off the contracts of the expensive mistakes.

I completely agree.

Who can say they really enjoy watching this Everton team? Not many I'd venture.

Just last year to be fair when they finished 5th.

We've finished above them every season bar the time they won the league.

Huge misconception about them

Since Rodgers came in they've been very consistent.

I don't really like the bloke, but he's an excellent manager and Leicester are a well-run club.

They've spent two weeks outside of the top 4 since the start of last season - one of them was at the very end of last season.

Consistent since last season. Not for years which is what was stated.
