And yet he hasn’t, those that weren’t up his standard he binned off. With the exception of 1 or 2 everyone in that starting 11 of his was performing at a very good individual level.

Granted if he turns that Preston lad into Maldini then maybe you’re onto something. But claiming he’s turned a bunch of has-beens into champions is a HUGE stretch
Never did I say he's turned has beens into champions. I said he's improved players whe we're decidedly average and even good players who were getting stick from some RS quarters have improved under his his tenure and with some additions have gone on to be champions.

They finished 4th and won the FA Cup in the second season Mansour was there and won the league in season 3.
Only after they missed out on the top four to Spurs and finishing 5th in the first season. So basically they failed in season one (comparatively that was a failure), greatly improved in season two and then finally got it right in season three. They only did it that quickly thanks to the insane sums of money they spent but even then it still took years of time and patience to build and progress.

Davies gets through more running than the two of them combined, but people don’t like him so he’ll always come under fire for defeats.

I don't get the Davies thing and never really have. People are too entrenched in their opinions.

The comment earlier about him only looking to pass backwards was some of the biggest nonsense I've read. If people have watched our performances in the last 3 weeks and think Davies is the main problem then I don't know what they've been watching. Certainly not the same games I've seen.

But what's the relevance to our situation? I don't really see how the comparison is relevant to us at all? I mean it's 25 years since we won anything, it's 5 years since Moshiri took over etc, I'm not sure what it is we're looking for patience with in this analogy.

They finished 10th the season before they got took over so how is it not a vast improvement to finish 5th the next year? Because people are making out as if finishing 7th for us would be some momentous achievement this season. It didn’t take them 3 seasons to “finally get it right” at all, they made clear progress every single season since they started spending.

The point is that it takes time to build something. Even in the perfect scenario like Man City it still took time.

Everything that happened before Anchelotti arrived has to be left in the past. The squad has to be rebuilt and wasters have be purged while we bring in far better replacements. Until that happens we'll never be more then what we're now. That can't happen in one single season.

But they didn't show patience did they? They sacked the manager after failing in the first year and then stopped failing. As an example it's about as bad as it gets for what you're trying to suggest.

Finishing 5th was considered a failure for that Man City team. They then vastly improved and then improved again. Progress.

And no, finishing 7th wouldn't be an achievement for this team. Around 7th-8th is about this sides level but its all we'll ever be if we don't wait and have patience for once.

Part of a midfield that has really struggled to compete. Take the Leicester game for example, there was 25 minutes in the second half where we had to camp on the edge of our 18 yard box.

Davies did fine in that match but in the same way you could say a Championship player did fine against much better players in an FA Cup game. I do think that part of the pitch is a huge problem for us right now, mainly because how passive we are in that area means James can barely get a kick of the ball.

It just seems odd to me that people are praising performances from our midfielders when we're being played off the park by the likes of Fulham.

It wasn’t at the time, Hughes got sacked mid-season because they were in the bottom half and Mancini came in, from that moment they pretty much instantly got better and ended up missing out on Champions League by one game, the two seasons after that were improvements yet again. It didn’t take them 3 years to start building something at all.
