2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

Problem is, more than half of our team has 0 pace. Our most creative player also has 0 pace, and while that might not be a problem for him, it sure is for the rest of these blokes. We need to seriously add someone with Douc's legs to midfield and another holding midfielder just to start off with. RB is sorely needed as well, perhaps even a LB.

And if lack of pace wasn't enough, squad depth is an even worse issue. Was looking who could Carlo bring at half time, checked the sub sheet and gave up.
He could use Iwobi correctly. He's not blazing fast but faster than Gomes, Sigurdsson, etc.

I think there is more there than what we're getting.

I must admit I’d love to see us pressing like chelsea did tonight - we couldn’t cope and just kept giving them the ball back

All season whenever a team presses us we've been rubbish and can't handle it. Need players with more quality and composure on the ball to counter that.

James was badly missed today to get some sort of foothold on the game in the middle.

Honestly, Iwobi is so inconsistent that I've no idea what the "right" usage of him would be.

He's had some really solid games this season where he looked like a dependable squad member. Gets your hopes up, then he shows up in this kind of form.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, speaking to BT Sport:

They played better than us. They deserved to win. We were good defensively for 30 minutes. When they scored the game became difficult for us. They are a good team.

"Jordan did well. For the penalty he can do better but it doesn't change the performance. I think it was a penalty.

"The game that we planned was what we got for 30 minutes. We didn't have a lot of opportunities. Richarlison had a chance. But we have to be honest, we are not at the same level. We cannot play an open game against this kind of team. It was the plan to play the same way as we played against Liverpool, but against Liverpool we scored early.

"We are looking to fight for Europe. This is good for us. We will be there until the last game. We are disappointed for this defeat but no tragedy. We look to the next game.

Not sure what else we could have done tonight, other than try match up with 3 at the back. Don't think it would have made any difference.

We lacked quality and mobility and they played well. Injuries are becoming a major problem and every game we need to play more of last year's team, we are likely to drop points.
Came up against a team with a lot of talent pace, comfortable on the ball all over the park. They’re a good side and I think they will get 2nd this season

Well the wrong way is having him pinned to the touchline. It is honestly the wrong way to use all wingers, but he struggles with it more than most.

The truth.

Using Iwobi correctly would be putting him in charge of Tekkers on social media and never letting him enter the pitch.
Iwobi would give us more in midfield than Gomes and it isn't really close. Probably Doucoure too tbh. We are crying out for someone who plays forward.

No mate, hes honestly a very bad player.

Im not gonna defend Andre much, cos, well, hes not great is he? But Iwobi is possibly 1 of the worst players I've seen play football.

And I know you don't like Doucs, but he offers us more in 2minutes than Iwobi will in his whole career.

Interesting thing with Wobes is, he can actually dribble off the touchline nicely (when he's on his game), as shown in pretty much all games he did well in.

Well, I mostly agree with you, he needs to find a different way to utilise Iwobi, but if Iwobi continues with his up&down form, it's kinda hard to find something that suits him most of the time. Think there wasn't a way in which he was not played this season, mixed results every time.

Douc has legs & lungs for 120 mins if needed. And he's solid most of the time.

Iwobi just isn't effective. He's a very talented player but isn't good at hurting the opponent. He doesn't get into the box or carry a threat and he lacks the discipline to play a deeper role.

I don't dislike him as a player, but I just don't know where he fits in. His skill set is mainly things that don't have any impact on a match.
