I heard Carlo screaming 'simple pass, simple pass', in our match against Southampton recently. Either he doesn't mind the players passing it backwards, or the players have misinterpreted his instructions and think simple pass means backwards or sidewards. Yes, the players are limited and aren't very good, but passing it backwards all the time can't be the solution.Iwobi shouldn't be the answer but for what we need right now he just might be.
To bring it back to Carlo, his refusal to address our forward passing and open play creation problems could still sink this season and is basically guaranteed to eventually be a problem.
Agree with this. It really isn't. And after 15 months, that isn't good enough.
We're 6th after 27 games with a game in hand on the Top 4 after an injury blighted campaign. Of course the structure is there.Agree with this. It really isn't. And after 15 months, that isn't good enough.

only the RS have injuries mate we had our first 11 out there tonight. We're 6th after 27 games with a game in hand on the Top 4 after an injury blighted campaign. Of course the structure is there.
It's really not amazing. He changed our structure to make us solid at the back and we have done well with it. Smart decision because if we carried on like we were we'd be in the bottom half right now.Defensively the structure is there but its amazing how we've gone from attacking as well as we did those first 8-9 games to what we have now. Its actually amazing the contrast.
We wont miss out on top 4/6 because of games like tonight it'll be because we have been unable to put teams like Newcastle, West Ham, Leeds, Fulham etc to the sword particularly at Goodison.
Look at WHU now 2 up comfortable home win nothing fancy just getting the job done. They have a decent blend of attack and defence something we lack imo.
Can only keep nicking 1-0 games for so long.

You could get a more attacking structure in place with square pegs in round holes all you want but we'd get webbed everywhere and CA would be slaughtered for not being pragmatic and getting results. From an attacking perspective, it's not really. We are a very stagnant team when attacking, very slow, rely entirely on moments.
That's got us this far, but it shows in matches like tonight. It's also shown in games against Fulham, Newcastle etc, though, and that's the real worry.
Third-lowest amount of chances created in the league. Best conversion rate for putting 'good chances' away, though.
Get an attacking structure in place that's a bit more fluid and we have the ability to score more goals. That shouldn't be out of the question while keeping defensive solidity.

Where have I suggested that? You could get a more attacking structure in place with square pegs in round holes all you want but we'd get webbed everywhere and CA would be slaughtered for not being pragmatic and getting results.
Or you could look at the current squad and think how can I get the most points with this set of players. Thankfully Carlo is doing the latter.
The man cannot win sometimes.
