Iwobi shouldn't be the answer but for what we need right now he just might be.

To bring it back to Carlo, his refusal to address our forward passing and open play creation problems could still sink this season and is basically guaranteed to eventually be a problem.
I heard Carlo screaming 'simple pass, simple pass', in our match against Southampton recently. Either he doesn't mind the players passing it backwards, or the players have misinterpreted his instructions and think simple pass means backwards or sidewards. Yes, the players are limited and aren't very good, but passing it backwards all the time can't be the solution.

Really not sure what people expected from that match... After city, chelsea are the form team, they have a fit first team and a full bench of internationals. We are missing a couple, with a bench of kids. We were never going to rip chelsea apart. Till the first goal the plan was going well to nick something on the break, after the goal we were forced to open up more than we wanted and got punished. We will lose games, and we will win games its the nature of football. Carlo is doing an incredible job in my eyes with the squad.

We're 6th after 27 games with a game in hand on the Top 4 after an injury blighted campaign. Of course the structure is there.

Defensively the structure is there but its amazing how we've gone from attacking as well as we did those first 8-9 games to what we have now. Its actually amazing the contrast.

We wont miss out on top 4/6 because of games like tonight it'll be because we have been unable to put teams like Newcastle, West Ham, Leeds, Fulham etc to the sword particularly at Goodison.

Look at WHU now 2 up comfortable home win nothing fancy just getting the job done. They have a decent blend of attack and defence something we lack imo.

Can only keep nicking 1-0 games for so long.

It's really not amazing. He changed our structure to make us solid at the back and we have done well with it. Smart decision because if we carried on like we were we'd be in the bottom half right now.

From an attacking perspective, it's not really. We are a very stagnant team when attacking, very slow, rely entirely on moments.

That's got us this far, but it shows in matches like tonight. It's also shown in games against Fulham, Newcastle etc, though, and that's the real worry.

Third-lowest amount of chances created in the league. Best conversion rate for putting 'good chances' away, though.

Get an attacking structure in place that's a bit more fluid and we have the ability to score more goals. That shouldn't be out of the question while keeping defensive solidity.

You could get a more attacking structure in place with square pegs in round holes all you want but we'd get webbed everywhere and CA would be slaughtered for not being pragmatic and getting results.

Or you could look at the current squad and think how can I get the most points with this set of players. Thankfully Carlo is doing the latter.

The man cannot win sometimes.

Where have I suggested that?

Yes, we need a better squad. I know that. I think Carlo is doing a brilliant job. I also think we should be creating more than 2 clear opportunities across three Premier League games, regardless of injuries.

I think that's pretty reasonable.

I dont think thats the case - we were in a slump after the derby but I think had we gotten our funk back we could still be where we are in the table had we been more attacking and slightly less compact.

Not all down to the manager as we have no right hand side & too many slugs in the midfield but we shown with confidence we can do much more from an attacking sense.
