Why would they let us have Carney? Give him Premier league experience. Receive a fee. Maybe he scores against one of their Top 4 competitors. Broja is still their asset so they are burdened with his injury either way. I'd assume they would want control over his rehabilitation.It doesn’t work for everyone though really does it? Chelsea don’t really win out of this unless we jump to their tune. Broja is going to be out of commission until next season. There’s interest in Carney. Why would they let us take him and burden themselves with a long term injury? Exactly as you say, we will need to pay extra, which we simply aren’t in a position to do. The only way it happens is if we lose and take all of the hit (deservedly)
If this still hinges on ‘if we can cancel the loan’ then every noise, credible and not, have repeatedly said that’s not on the cards. And if the club changes its minds at the last minute, it gets what it deserves
I also appreciate that they may not be desperate to loan to a team that has just crocked one of their players, although most sensible people will see it wasn't our fault.
I guess we'll see. There may not be a scenario that works for all parties but it doesn't seem impossible.
