So we are over 200 pages on here and I'm guessing the new is that Everton out in a bid for 25m and now they want 27m .. any update to that?

Chill out it’s only 2nd January?

You would think we had a centre forward who isn’t either a kid or diabolical yeah but chill out don’t wet the bed lads, Super Steve Walsh and his excell spreadsheet of stats will sort this.

The Issue is, our one hope for Friday was this guy giving us a bit of a lift, now it is looking unlikely he will be done by then (if at all) and we will be with DCL v VVD

DCL can hold the ball up. He has an excellent first touch (usually). Just there are no runners for him to pass to and usually gets pressed out of the ball. Needs a pacy guy alongside him
No he can't and yes, he gets pressed out of the ball. Good CFs don't do that. They can actually hold it at least with only one person on their back. DCL isn't strong enough to hold it with any effectiveness. Niasse is much stronger on the ball, and he's bad at it, too. Even Lukaku wasn't great at it. We've literally been devoid of a decent target player for years.

DCL is also extremely pacey. He's got talent, that's not the issue, he's just not ready for prime time, yet. He needs to also work on his finishing.

I understand DCL gets his head on a lot of balls. That's wonderful. He's tall and can jump. So friggin what? So does Benteke, but neither hold the ball for their team to get into transition. That's what matters.

I hate the formation we play. I find it very negative. We use it against everybody. Koeman, Unsworth and now Allardyce use it, and it’s not a success, as we don’t have the players for it.
We've played several now, which formation are you referring to?

I actually think signing Tosun could solve 2 positions. I think because DCL wins so many headers, and does a lot well, but is a poor finisher, he could naturally move out to Lennon's spot. He has good speed though its deceptive, and he has a high work rate so he should be willing to get back defensively. This way he isnt responsible for finishing anymore, and can run the channels like he did earlier in the season. When we hoof the ball up hes pressed up to win headers and flick them on to Tosun, and then defensively just slides back to the right side.

Maybe if you loan Walcott you set up with Tosun up top, Siggurdson in behind, and DCL and Walcott on the wings with DCL coming more centrally and Walcott playing as a more traditional winger.
I agree regarding DCL. Ive been saying we should use him as a wide targetman to my mates for a while now. I think playing DCL on the right with Niasse in the middle would be a better setup for us, and Im thinking Tosun is a bit better than Niasse. Im a little surprised we havent tried it. DCL played a little on the flanks last season(and wasnt good enough), but he’s done a lot with his game since then, and I think playing him wide could give us another dimension while attacking.

Edit:
I also think his heading is terrible. He gets on the ball, then heads it in a random direction.

Problem is no one along side to head to!

Why wouldn't you just play a winger? Are you seriously suggesting that DCL is better at wing than Bolaisse or Lennon? Even Lookman and Vlasic, who seem more like inside forwards, are much more effective out there than DCL. DCL being fast, tall, and athletic is great, but he's not a winger. Not.A.Winger.

From Turkey – ‘We aren’t going to offer £1 more’ – Everton get tough in transfer talks
By Nihat Emre Kocaaslan -

2nd January 2018
According to Sporx, there’s a problem in negotiations between Besiktas and Everton, regarding Cenk Tosun’s arrival at Goodison Park.

The Turkish website claim Besiktas want Everton to increase their offer for Tosun, despite reports yesterday they’d accepted English club’s €23m plus €2m in bonuses. There are differing fees all over the English and Turkish press right now, so the figures are somewhat fluid.

Everton officials reportedly told Besiktas’ board: ‘We aren’t going to increase our offer, we aren’t going to offer £1 more. It’s up to you whether to accept our previous bid.’

Sporx say Tosun’s agent and father Senol Tosun has informed Besiktas about the situation. Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has reportedly said to Besiktas president Fikret Orman: ‘Cenk is not going to help our team anymore. We should sell him and look for alternatives.’

There have been conflicting reports in the Turkish media in recent days, after claims the transfer fee would be in the region of £28m.

There have also been suggestions Tosun could make his debut for Everton when they take on local rivals Liverpool on Friday night in the FA Cup.

However, it seems there’s still a bit of work to do before Tosun is confirmed as an Everton player.

This is all becoming something of a soap opera.

Like he could head it where he wanted to to begin with. Look, if we want to throw someone else up with him and try and have him head the ball to some onrunning players, that's lovely. I'm happy to see how 2 up top leaving 8 behind them are going to be effective winning the ball back and preventing the other team from scoring.

Can we all just stop with the suggestions that DCL should play at all? He's not ready. Talented, but he needs replaced.
