Well no, what makes it even stranger is that we named Gethin Jones and Sam Byrne instead of Garbutt, so the Turkish lad and Garbutt could take 1 of those spaces each.

They werent added for HG status due to us having 14 named HG players when we only need 8.

It just seems so obvious. It must be GLARINGLY obvious live at the match.

A LB and CF helps a bit. Still uncertain that Cenk is the man, but he does give us some things we do not currently have. True LB/CB allows Sam to employ some different tactics for sure. Still lack quality at CB and in the middle of the field, but unless we are selling a LOT of players, that'll be tough to fix in January.

Yeah more so at the match, as you can see players runs and who need to track back, where the opposition are overloading, and our players options to find space when we have it.

Our players all seem static when we have the ball, hardly anyone makes a forward run from midfield to either support the forward or draw players away.

So we could have a left back in the squad for Friday, think Martina has held his own but you would think him knowing he was having an extended run at left back he would have tried to learn to use his left peg a bit.

...I imagine there’s plenty of players out there willing to come to Everton. Not sure who you mean that is ‘proven quality’ and won’t come here to play for Allardyce. I’ve not heard of anybody turning Allardyce down?

Well, ideally someone who has proven themselves to be better than making a living in the Turkish league where even Niasse has shone.

What I mean is, is that right now I think we'd have trouble convincing anyone from a decent league and team that we're a step up for them. We only seem to be able to offer money and this struggle to identify a striker has shown this to everyone. We're now in an even worse position than the summer as we have no European togger to offer or even really the potential of it next season.

Whether it be Jimenez from Portugal or Tosun from Turkey, neither of them are coming from top leagues or even have the best scoring records in those leagues but yet that's the level of player market we are shopping in.

I don't know anyone I would want at the moment who we could bring in and it seems to be the same way for those in charge of the recruitment.

We're so far away from where we were with Lukaku in the team and those dreams of "taking the next step", we're scrambling to get back to where we were as best of the rest and any striker we sign now wouldn't look out of place at Swansea, Stoke, or West Ham. That's what I find disheartening.

As for hearing about people turning Allardyce down surely you know better than most that if a player's interest doesn't even get off the ground then we're probably unlikely to ever find out about.
