2017/18 Cenk Tosun

I haven't got a clue if Cenk Tosun can play Premier League football because I haven't seen him try apart from that first game in which he looked fine to me. I wouldn't trust Fat Sam's opinion on a forward. Don't forget apparently it was Fat Sam's telephone calls to Tosun and how he explained Tosun would be used that sealed the deal.
Something is very wrong here, £27 million for a player to sit on the bench at Everton !!!

Tosun himself has explained the situation. There's absolutely nothing sinister going on - it's simply a player coming to a new club, country and culture who needs to adapt.

If that's true, and it may well be, what does that say about our recruitment policy? We were desperately short up front but we spend a lot of money on a player we were planning to ease in over the remainder of the season whilst at the same time leaving us short both up front and in other positions (left back springs immediately to mind). Do we even have a plan at this club?

cost the same as lukaku when we got him...

let that sink in.
But that doesn’t make sense. You judge players on the market when they were bought not on historic pricing three years ago before mental prices. He was bought for a quarter of Lukaku’s worth, a 6th or 7th of Coutinho’s. Why not let that sink in and at the same time give him a chance to adapt. It may not work out but to judge after one month is a joke.

Is this the manager that turned round Benteke, rekindled Defoe’s career to get an England call up and found and developed Kevin Davies. He is also the manager that Walcott has said was a fundamental reason for him signing. Nope, doubt he knows as much about strikers as most on here. Oh, wasn’t he also the manager who really gave Niasse a second chance? The manager deserves some grief but seriously, some of the points on here are plain daft.

he couldn't even get on when we was cruising 3-0 at home. he must be uber crap
Why would we bring on a striker for a defensive midfielder at 3-0 and lose our structure and cover for a makeshift back four? What’s the point in that? Close the game out, get three points and move on. Cenk may not be good enough, but none of us know that. He still makes the bench, Sandro and Klaassen didn’t.

So we spend £27 million on a player to replace Lukaku and then find that he isn't ready to play. Has to be one of the worst decisions that even Steve Walsh has made.
Oh, sorry. Tosun is presumably "one for the future"?

£27 million and he is good enough to hold down a place on the bench.
Now that's what I call value.
