I don't know if I would agree with what you say, I am not sure he can take the credit for Benteke, Defoe and Kevin Davies, what else is Walcott going to say, I moved to Everton despite the manager being crap.
But supposing you are right with Benteke, Defoe and Davies, that is 3 forwards over the course of a long managerial career, hardly prolific.
That’s all the knowledge I have with his career really. But didn’t he manage Michael Ricketts to be top scorer and sign Bobic, Jay Jay O’ and Djorkaeff, who all loved playing for him? Not sure how you can doubt his insight over yours but my view is no more valid than yours so no point arguing it anymore.

Sam said about him: “Everything we looked at from the club’s point of view – and I am not just talking about me and Steve Walsh – I am talking about the whole scouting system and the board, and the algorithm company we use, everything about it said, ‘yes’ Tosun will succeed in England."

Think it's pretty clear we need a new manager, DOF, scouting team and algorithm company. Oh, and a striker.

The algorithm was probably:

Can he play up front: yes or no

All the reports on Tuson before we bought him said , he was a tremendous trainer as in putting in the effort to improve his game over the last few years of his career.
Now he has come here, and all of a sudden this has supposed to have changed?
He has joined a list of players coming here and not flourishing
I don't know the reasons behind it, but it will have to be looked at, we can't go on buying players for them to shrink in confidence and perform to the standards needed to push us forward
Outside of Walcott, Pickford who have done well?
we have a whole list of players who it could be fairly argued have gone backwards from there time at there former clubs.
Much to early to judge this player, suspect he is getting caught in a drip of of bad news stories against Walsh that seem to becoming out at the moment, looking like a shift behind the scenes to get Walsh out of the door, and he is being used as a stick to beat him with

And a new owner, i think the Mosh wanted this guy in.

Spot on.

Sandro cant adapt to the league, lets keep on the bench
Klaassen cant adapt to the league, lets keep on the bench
Tosun cant adapt to the league, lets keep on the bench

KDB, Salah should be the kick up the arse people need.

It’s not baffling to me. I don’t think he’s as good as Niasse, for the predicament we’re in.

Sam keeps talking about “key performance indicators”.

“KPI” for me would be the fact that, a certain Mr A.Kone, has outperformed, outscored and out assisted Cenk this season domestically.

I'm not saying he should start. I'm a Niasse fan mate I advocated keeping him as he has scored pivotal goals for us this year despite many wanting him sold this January(check the Niasse thread). He is clearly our best option right now. However Tosun still needs more minutes judging him off such little time is pointless. Niasse is a prime example actually of not judging a player when they haven't settled in a league. I expect to see what Tosun is made of next season but he needs minutes now to adjust to that.

to be fair, if this is actually the case and not just blag news I can think of 150,000 reasons why the efforts stopped

Sam Allardyce is hoping a warm-weather training break this week will better prepare Everton's new signing Cenk Tosun for the rigours of the English game following his £27m move to Merseyside club in January.

Tosun arrived from Turkish club Besiktas with a strong reputation as a clinical goalscorer but in the five Everton matches since he joined, he has started just the first two, he was an unused substitute on Saturday and he has a combined total of just 196 minutes of first-team action under his belt in the last two months.

Everton fly out to Dubai on Wednesday and although Allardyce believes Tosun was fit enough for the Turkish Super Lig, he admitted the 26-year-old has plenty of work to do in the Middle East.

"He is struggling with the pace of the Premier League which happens to more players than it doesn’t who come in in January," Allardyce said.

"He was up to scratch when he was playing but there is more demand at this level to get to the level and show the ability he has got. There is no doubting his goalscoring ability but you have to have the capabilities to get in those positions to score those goals and that is the hard bit.

"When you are on the grass in short sleeves and shorts and a pair of boots players don’t want to stop training and don’t want to stop playing football, in fact we have to stop them. That is what you get when you get out in the right climate."

A drab first half at Goodison Park on Saturday gave way to a second period that saw four goals as finishes from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Oumar Niasse and Tom Davies set Everton up for the three points before a late penalty for Palace's Luka Milivojevic gave the visiting fans something to belatedley cheer.

Eyebrows were raised around the ground when Morgan Schneiderlin was heavily booed by home supporters when he replaced Idrissa Gueye after 80 minutes following a series of performances deemed under-par by the club's supporters.

Despite that, there were mainly positives to take from the occasion, one of which was the energetic performance of Davies, and Allardyce praised him for the way he has tried to recover the form that made him one of English football's hottest young properties 12 months ago.

"He asked what he needed to do to get back into the team," Allardyce added. "He didn’t ask me, he asked the coaching staff and [performance director] Ryland Morgans. They said here are your training stats - lift up your training stats and you will have a better opportunity to get into the team and his impressive work in training caught the eye."

So it comes down to Sam trying to save his own ass first and not risking it with a new player while Niasse is doing the job. Though I don't like, I understand why he is concerned, especially with all the booing going around when things go wrong.

I don't buy any of the crap about training or getting used to the PL, Cenk was also working with his personal trainer in the summer while everyone was doing their holidays and I remember Sam expecting Cenk to play in the Liverpool game just on the day he signed and Sam put him up against Spurs just after a week he signed. So basically Sam is trying to get some space with the teams down below and ease Cenk in into the team over time.

“As time goes on and the more we get closer to our safety the more we can release and see what he's got. There is no doubting his goal-scoring ability but you have to have the capabilities to get in those positions to score, and that is the hard bit. We have to try to be patient as the team are winning without him.”

So according to Sam we'll see more of him when we get closer to safety. :hayee:

Lucky we didn't need to buy an expensive striker to help improve results then :hayee::hayee:
