2018/19 Cenk Tosun

Dont care what people say Jamie Vardy is twice the player.

Batshuyai, Bacca & Willian Jose would all be upgrades aswell.

Would love to ship both him and Calvert Lewin out. Lukaku would have bagged a hatful against that Wolves defence.
This all day long.
Tosun just isnt a good enough all round player.
Should of gone all out for batsuayai or a goal scorer with pace.

I’d be asking if we have enough goal threat not wether if Cenk is good enough I’d say between Walcott, Richy, sig, Bernard, oumar, Cenk and Lookman we have adequate avenues to goal

Which is it ? I think he is OK and people saying he wouldn't get in a top 6 side are missing the obvious that we are not a top 6 club, it will take a few windows to sort this mess out and he (and many others) will do for now. Fans want us to jump to top 6 in one season, not going to happen.
I don't think brands is going for the few windows approach, his trying to fix this mess in one go, hence the squad size.

Were begging championship sides to take the likes of bolasie and besic on loan

Pros:
- Excellent finisher
- Works hard
- Good link up play
- Varies his play as much as possible (i.e. coming short or spinning in behind)
- Really well-liked within the squad

Cons:
- Lack of pace (by Premier League standards)
- Didn't get into the box enough (on Saturday)
- Sloppy touches/passes
- Dropping too deep, too often
Love how you're now getting a load of stick for trying to give a balanced overview of a player. You should know by now that nobody can have strengths and weaknesses, they're either world class or awful, depending on whether they played well at the weekend or not.

The first point I replied to was someone saying they'd keep ONLY niasse out of the 3 strikers we have. Now given that tosun is clearly a better striker I pointed out that. If you can't see why tosun is a better striker then I don't know quite what to say

J have also said niasse is a striker i wouldn't mind keeping around as long as he is on the bench as he does chip in with the odd goal. I will add though. Have we ever won a league game he has started?

Your being way to defensive... no side in the top 6 would ever have a player of his ability in the team. I get why he's liked he's come out of nowhere scored a few goals but facts are facts he isn't very good at football and a few taps ins doesn't change that

Again, how is he CLEARLY the better striker?

Again this is not an anti Tosun thing at all, I like and rate him, but throwaway lines like this do my head in. Both have scored goals in Turkey, both have comparable records here.

I have no idea if we have won a game where he has started. I wouldn't have that information to hand! I don't think it really matters anyway unless goals scord when starting a game count double or something?

I don't think I am being too defensive to be honest, I am just thoroughly sick of people questioning the blokes ability when the evidence is right in front of them as to what he is good at.

Calling his goals a "few tap ins" is quite churlish. What about his positioning for said goals? His work to create those chances, his goal against West Ham on the final day actually took a lot of ability but gets overlooked because it was a horrible game. Again do "tap ins" get you less goals?

He has scored goals everywhere he has been, has scored goals in the premier league, in European competition and at International level, has scored goals against big clubs, average clubs, small clubs and scored them in a variety of ways.

The facts are (as you say), maybe, just maybe, he is not quite as bad as this football thing as you and others say? And why? Because the evidence is right there in front of you saying that he is a very effective player which to me makes them "good at football".

We played over 50mins with 10 players with him isolated - can forgive the two points in bold for that.

On the first point in bold, I agree mate.

Second point in bold I do think he did it a fair bit last season.

In fairness, with the pace of Walcott/Richarlison (Bernard to come in, hopefully Lookman as well), there's nothing wrong with dropping off to create the space in behind.

I just hope he then busts a gut to get into the box. He isn't a player who's going to pick up the ball 30 yards out, take on four defenders before drilling it home. He's very much like Jelavic (although I do think he has more to his all round game) in that he's an excellent finisher when in the area.

There's a difference between good link up play and sloppy touches, though.

Lukaku was good at link up play for us, but his first touch was usually dreadful.

Yes, and I think this kind of thing is what Papa Shango is talking about, people making out like he's some sort of woeful player and there's no way he can contribute other than coming on for 5 minutes at the end. He's started 12 league games for us and we've won 4, Tosun has started 13 and we've also won 4 of those. Perceptions eh.

re niasse i disagree you know, im sure he scored more goals than Llorente, the two liverpool back up strikers, zlatan etc
hes massively effective, throw him in the mixer when you need a goal and something might happen

Llorente must have started abaout 2/3 games
what two Liverpool back up strikers? solanke who is also terrible and a kid, who else?
Zlatan, mate he doesn't even play for united anymore, he played abar half a dozen games all probably a sub after a bad injury and he's about 40

were going around in circles.
