I liked the bit when Dave said a Strikers only job in a team is to score goals and if he doesnt do that hes failed.
I liked it a lot, cos it highlights just how utterly clueless he is.
The best Strikers in the world can score without scoring.
I think that raises quite an interesting question - Do you think Lukaku would fare better in this system than Cenk?
I agree that Cenk isn’t a replacement for Rom but - and I get that it is serendipitous as opposed to part of a bigger plan, given it was BFS who signed him - I actually think he’s more suited to our style of play as it is now.
People searching for the next Lukaku, im gonna let everybody into a little secret, we wont ever get another Lukaku, not for at least 30 years, which was the time before that we had a Lukaku. Lineker, Lukaku, players like that dont come around often.

I think he offers a lot with regards to running, work ethic and link up play. A very good team player. A lot of what many of us called upon Lukaku to do.
But obviously the most important thing for a striker is scoring goals, and it was always gonna be hard to unearth another Lukaku and paying for a striker of similar goal output to Rom would be insanely expensive.
So for now I think the plan is clear, have a good link up forward and try and share the goals between the likes of Richarlison, Walcott and Sigurdsson until we find the next Lukaku or until we find a boss striker we could afford and convince to join.

Tosun and walcott will chip in with goals yes, but they also have a lot of other work to do, tracking back and running down the wings.
He lacks pace and quality and masks this by tracking back and working hard.
With richarlison and walcott keeping the full backs occupied, he should be scoring goals for fun
Agreed, although I think we struggled due to a lack of Lukaku last year whereas I think he may actually be a hindrance in this more fluid attacking system.
What we need now is a “striker” who can interact as part of the front 4 as a whole and make space/chances for the others as well as tuck it away when the chances come. Dare I say it, a Firmino type... Cenk isn’t exactly that but he’s a better imitation than Rom.
Richarlison and Walcott keep full backs occupied, Tosun or whoever else keeps center backs occupied, so I guess Siggy should score something around 35 goals this season.

At the end of the day it's a team game, tosun is doing a massive job for the team.
There was laughable party on here yesterday saying he wasn't scoring the goals to kill the game off like lukaku was
... How the eff is he going to do that without the chance to score? Our fervent is why we have dropped points, not the two goals a game we're scoring with ten men.
