2019/20 Cenk Tosun

I like DCL’s willingness, but it’s becoming more and more obvious he’ll never be a 15 goal a season man. Give Cenk a few games. Let’s not forget, Thierry Henry was rubbish in his first season over here (he was trust me, cows arse with a banjo etc) and look what happened there. And I don’t need any replies like ‘surely you’re not comparing DCL to Henry you muppet’. No, I’m not.

And what’s all this ‘target man’ nonsense in various posts? Just because we’ve always revered our centre forwards doesn’t mean we have to keep on doing it in 2019. City don’t have a ‘target man’, just mobile forwards switching positions, which makes it difficult to defend against. This is what we should be looking to do.
I think you’ve got Henry mixed up with someone else mate, he banged in 17 in the Prem alone in his first season

Yeah, just the 26 goals in 47 appearances in Henry's 1st season.....

Ok, fair enough, it was this I was remembering........

However, doubts were raised about his ability to adapt to the quick and physical English game when he failed to score in his first eight games. After several difficult months in England, Henry even conceded that he had to "be re-taught everything about the art of striking.

So could Cenk still come good?

I like him as a second striker in the 442, dropping a little deeper, linking up attack.

Also think he should start ahead of DCL whenever he is fit.

I`m sure Silva would take your thoughts on board and ignore them Joey.

Thanks for the input though.
So you sit with him do you I will let you know when he is for the chop like I did with big Sam......or just ask you because you sit in with him......as he listens to you from time to time -
It was a relief last night for us to get that win after such a bad start - TBH that RB looked ropey.....

Indeed. Miles off the pace.

....so every striker who dips in early in their PL career, can turn out to be like Thierry Henry. Henry was a supreme athlete, fantastic pace and mobility aligned to great touch and ability. If Tosun had any of those, you could be right.

You would think with dcl not performing and our love of putting crosses in that tosun should get more chances. Until Kean is ready to play from the kick off at least.

DCL came on last night so what are you spouting?
We need a 442 system ... the only goals in open play were when we had this system.......

Spouting?!

I was only voicing my opinion. I agree that we should try to play 442, but in my opinion, Tosun deserves every much a chance as Calvert-Lewin.

I was only joking about the under 23 bit, but now I’m not as I feel scorned.

...if we break with the pace we have out wide, Tosun will have a problem getting in the box when crosses come in. He’s ok, he’s very ordinary, he was scouted by Steve Walsh.

i still think he can be useful, but only in games when we have loads of possession and he is in the box to create/score a chance
