2019/20 Cenk Tosun

Cenk is at the peak of his career yet he hasn't the pace and physique to compete at the highest level. Nor is there room for improvement. Three pitiful goals in the premiership last season. Were any of them was against big clubs?

I know it’s ironic because both Sigurdsson and Cenk connected for the goal, but Sigurdsson is not pulling that off against league opposition. Don’t play them both at the same time. Let Cenk play alongside another striker if at all. He needs to be able to link up with somebody.

Silva likes to just throw attacking players onto the pitch and things become chaotic. It thankfully worked against Lincoln, but it rarely works. Just play one or the other. Give him a partner and don’t sacrifice the shape to do so.

We were pressed up high against Villa for large portions of the game so there was no advantage in using pacey players on the counter. Maybe a player like Tosun who can sniff out space would be the better bet there. Having said that, he's played in games like that before and not thrived. But DCL may be best resting for a few games
Not when we take five minutes to get to the oppositions box - cheesy triangles style-
I think it’s time for your afternoon nap Joey.
I went for snap and ended up If Grumpy.......

I like DCL’s willingness, but it’s becoming more and more obvious he’ll never be a 15 goal a season man. Give Cenk a few games. Let’s not forget, Thierry Henry was rubbish in his first season over here (he was trust me, cows arse with a banjo etc) and look what happened there. And I don’t need any replies like ‘surely you’re not comparing DCL to Henry you muppet’. No, I’m not.

And what’s all this ‘target man’ nonsense in various posts? Just because we’ve always revered our centre forwards doesn’t mean we have to keep on doing it in 2019. City don’t have a ‘target man’, just mobile forwards switching positions, which makes it difficult to defend against. This is what we should be looking to do.
I think we all enjoy his attitude and work rate. We all want him to bang 20 goals in and 10 assists.

He just hasn't got it built in instinctively. He's not regularly making threatening runs. He can't create his own goals, he struggles with headers and his link up play is not existent. Even when the ball drops in front of him , plate knife and fork he just hasn't got that composure to deal with it.

Henry even when played on the wing in his very first season, the signs of a very dangerous player were there. He had Everything in his locker, he believed himself and became a natural leader. You can't compare DCL to Henry anyway as it's not possible.

He could play the 'target man' if you like. He's shown glimpses of those attributes needed. But then it comes down to intelligence and his natural footballing brain. The amount of times I've seen him hold the ball up well, while he waits for support only to fluff his lines at the final stage and pass the ball over 5 yards to the opposition, completely un doing his patch of good work.

I think at 23 we have waited long enough to figure out whether or not DCL is and will be good enough. The answer so far is no.

I also think there has been enough time, no matter where the player is on the pitch talent should shine through for me not much shine about.

They all count.

Cenk is not the answer but giving him stick for not scoring against a big team and then trying to discredit the goal when youre proven wrong is a bit silly

No, I wasn't proven wrong as I merely asked a question. Nor was I trying to give him stick because it was more of a comparative matter. In that Niasse has scored more goals against big teams than Tosun. Is Tosun is a flat track bully?

Niasse has scored against Liverpool and Man Utd.

Hahaha oh come on, I knew you were going to use his Hull goals. Unfortunately we won’t be able to make a fair comparison until we loan Tosun out to a lower PL club for half a season if you’re going to use that one.
