Cenk Tosun

In truth, I can fully see why we took a punt on him because he does seem to have some good instincts to finish a ball but how our scouts didn’t question his pace I will never know. I can only assume the defenders in Turkey have lead in their boots because everyone could see it very quickly here.

I seem to remember looking at his goals per game and at most places it’s not bad and I think he played for Germany youth teams and scored a fair few there too. Not that I can ever imagine Cenk being young, he looks the sort that was 30 at birth

Like with a lot of our signings, plagued with injuries, hasn't helped, but too slow to be a forward in this league.

I mean he wasnt lightning fast but he had enough pace about him. He was just never fit long enough or given a run in the side to know for sure how good he actually is/was

I remember James Beatie look fast against an aging Sol Campbell(outpaced him over 30 yards and slotted)- think it was the game where Campbell just walked straight out the ground after the final whistle! Tosun isn’t Allan slow but that example on the YouTube must be a rare find

Not a chance he’s up there with our worst signings, dependent on how old you are of course, but having been watching EFC for nearly 40 years he wouldn’t even be in the top ten worse signings
Fee spent wise.. I saw Brett Angel, Stefan rein, claus Thompson, Danny Williamson, Stephen Hughes, bakayoko etc (excuse the spelling) they’re might be some arguing there but he’s in that category to me for money spent

Fee and salary wise he has been awful. It is compounded by the fact he has seen out his contract and claimed the salary the for the full period.

I’d say it is good to be bringing a close to that wretched period where we signed everyone any anyone to stupidly high wages.

Only major signings of thag time to remain come June will be Pickford and Keane, with Sigurdsson also likely to be gone.

Tried Tosun, but another high profile flop, and totally a bung loaded deal bu Allardyce. £15m at best signing.

Yup. Good summary of his stay.

Farewell, thanks for the goals.

I can understand why Tosun was signed - he scored goals and had played well in the European Cup.
He turned out to be crap and got successively slower and injury prone but his signing kinda made sense.

Iwobi - on the other hand....
