Champions League revamp

Conflicting translations about this banned from UEFA competitions, some say WILL be banned, some say COULD be banned, if it’s the latter and nothing actually happens then it’s sussy as....
The clubs don’t want the uefa competitions any more. They won’t be arsed if uefa ban them or not.
The national leagues (premier league, la liga etc) will need to enforce the domestic bans on ALL football activity.
They play on their own, or they play with everyone else. They can’t hVe it both ways imo.

That's what I mean. If these clubs have left ECA then they no longer recognise UEFA as the governing body of European football therefore should instantly lose access to UEFA competitions and maybe even domestic.

Yeah sorry that’s what I meant they’ve left now haven’t they so aren’t members anymore.

How would they even decide how clubs could qualify for this in the event it all goes ahead?

If Leicester won the league again, would they qualify? Who'd make way for them?
Couldn't be the bottom placed team in the ESL surely as that could be a non English club and I'm sure the others wouldn't want there to then be 7 English clubs in the league.
The lowest placed English club maybe? So then you face the danger of losing your place, even if you finish in the top half and then have nowhere to play as you've been banned by your domestic league

Would it be an invitational (Old boys club essentially)? Once again, how do you decide who leaves? Surely if it's not on merit, clubs would fight legally to retain that huge TV rights money they are being promised.

Whole thing sounds like a logistical nightmare.

per the BBC, the 12 confirmed are the top 5 English sides and Tottenham

Inter, A.C and Juventus, Barcelona, Real, Atletico Madrid

For anyone joining the thread, PSG are said to be resistant to joining. Bayern, Borussia both declined invitations, but appear on some of the early social media branding.

Impossible to see how the Champions league continues now....the clubs have either resigned, or they'll be kicked out.

And do the PL crown City champions after this?

Do the PL have jurisdiction here. These clubs aren’t threatening to pullout of the PL as a competition. Though I’d love to see the PL bin them all.

Seems to me on reflection, this is about creating a new CL that they don’t have to qualify for, with less teams and thus More money.

Essentially that’s what this is a closed shop CL with less teams and 11 clubs making more.

Worse then the current model.

Seems to me this is a game of chicken between them and Uefa, but I’d love if every authority that can nails them.

I do however have no trust in Uefa.

I agree. I fear these clubs have simply managed to set up their own, new, more lucrative CL that they don’t even have to qualify for.

If they are allowed to continue to play in the Premier League then those saying LFC are dead and that they can Rust In Pieces are talking rubbish.

It would mean the RS have just become 10 times more powerful and we’d still be competing in the same domestic league as them.

I hope some of the managers, players and staff at these clubs resign in protest.

They won’t, ultimately players have power, but are contracted, for staff, they can be replaced.

The players will have pound signs in their eyes as £4.8bn means they can finally afford their 97th house, or buying that island they’ve been thinking of.

Not the players faults, the clubs are a disgrace and money talks.
