Champions League revamp

I bet they'll be playing kids in the cups going forward if they're allowed to remain in the English system

That's not sustainable though. Every other club will resent them (or at least the fans of every other club will). Maybe this would finally be the time where fans vote with their feet and boycott certain games, instead of being sheep as usual.

If scab teams field their U23s in the Premier League, Sky and BT won't want to feature them.

Teams who don't want to be there will quickly be found out and it will ultimately end in them having to make the decision of leaving one league or the other, otherwise they'll drop down the domestic leagues and their 'brand' will be destroyed.

18.4.21 - Spurs join European Super League and have earned themselves 300m for starters which will definitely help them with loss of earnings due to Covid 19

19.4.21 - Spurs sack Mourinho and his coaching staff. Compensation of 301m has been paid to remove the management team from their positions

Just joking of course but lol at Spurs just because I can

20 years ago I'd have been fuming about this, I'm not sure I'm really all that bothered if it happens (I dont think it will as it happens).

I dunno if that says more about football being less important as life takes over or if its 20 years of stagnation by Everton.

I hope its the former.

That would have to be a non-closed shop, so it would also generate an overhaul in Scotland, without the Old Firm.

Theoretically, promotion to the Premier League would have to be open to all/other Scottish clubs, and that means integration of both countries leagues, right through the tiers.

Of course, you could just invite Celtic and Rangers in without any of that, but that leaves a new Premier League open to accusations of hypocrisy and double standards.

Im not saying it would be a closed shop for them, once they are in they can be relegated like anyone else. I was more theorizing about what could happen if the Premier league kicked out 6 teams. In the past when this Rangers/ Celtic thing has been mentioned, people have said that they should start at the bottom of english football and work their way up, fair enough, this would be a way for them to step in at the top. I dont think this is at all the same as the European super league proposal because there would still be relegation and promotion.

I dont think promotion to the Premier league would have to be open to all Scottish teams though. Look at the fact we have welsh teams in the EFL and there is a separate Welsh league. Also Gretna FC based in Scotland have competed in the English leagues and Berwick, based in England, compete in the sottish leagues.

As an example, if they were allowed to play on the Premier league and league Cup and fa Cup and this European super league.

Let's take the rs and mancs as an example

Play each other in the Premier league x2
Play each other in the European Super League x2
Then there's the possibility of facing each other in the League Cup x1
Then there's the possibility of facing each other in the FA Cup x1
Then there's the possibility of facing each other in the European Super League in the knockout stage which I'm sure would be a 2 legged affair I'd assume so x2

So there's the potential to have to face a domestic rival 8 times in a season which would be ridiculous. At a minimum they'd be facing each other 4 times.

It's absolutely ridiculous.
We went over this about a month ago, it's already a possibility of 9, this makes it 13. 13 AMAZING 0-0 results most likely.

Same. I used to (stupidly) let football results impact my weekend happiness.

As I came to my senses, real life kicked in, and football continues to reveal itself in this way, I hardly care any more.
