Champions League revamp

Reading through all this has got me really agitated, I work with Reds, a Spurs fan and a Welsh Arsenal fan, all of them were venomously against this idea. The whole ‘legacy’ slur against the very fans that made these clubs was a slap in the face to all my Red uncles, my late Dad who was a lifelong Red and my Blue uncle who took me to my first game at Goodison. Talking to my mum about it, as it had been on the news before I got in from work, I said to her my dad would be absolutely furious at the behaviour of the bigwigs at Anfield the past 2 days, he gave up going to games a good 10 years before he passed because he was fed up with the tourists and entitled morons.

Listening to Neville and Carragher here and there's a lot of rowing back - I get the impression that if promotion and relegation was allowed for the scab league they'd back down.

Indeed, but how do the ‘original clubs’ get identified....

I disagree with him here - I hope he is right, but I think City's owners would be petrified of missing out, not because of the incremental $'s, they dont give a toss about that, but their goal of the big PR drive to a global brand needs them in the same competition as Real Madrid, Man united etc

I think it was their agenda when they first took over, but they're a stable global force on their own now.

I honestly think they not fussed either way with this super league as they've not done what FSG or the Glazers have done, they've invested their own money in building a business, infrastructure, and club other clubs want to copy on how to run. None of that diminishes for them in or out.

Do you think what could happen? Mad all this.

They have to. It's basically insurrection - they've broke rule L9 of the Premier League rulebook into pieces with that announcement.

All six should be relegated, three clubs going down this season get a reprieve alongside the three coming up from the Championship. And that's letting them off lightly.

The key word is "should" - it depends when and how they back down. If they don't, the punishment is self-evident - they're expelled.
