It seems the players agree. At least some of them anyway. This new format will allow teams with a good coefficient to have absolutely abysmal league seasons and still potential qualify for the CL, meaning they undeservedly reap the financial rewards. It’s all a big joke really.

Yeah its almost like the Super League has acted as a decoy to get the Champions League reforms sneaked through without anyone noticing.

Can't PL just ask the 6 clubs (well all clubs) to sign a contract which states they won't join any other leagues or discuss joining other leagues without prior approval from ### of PL clubs. Doing so will result in £xxxx amount paid to the PL and xxxx amount of points deducted.

If they don't sign then publicly come out and say they clearly don't care about the fans. If they do then happy days.

It’s been reported in the media that some of the executives of the 14 are saying they won’t allow the 6 to demand preferential treatment anymore. Whilst I appreciate the commercial strength of some of these clubs it’s the entire PL product which has put them in that position. Running things for the benefit of of those few clubs has brought them to this pass and I hope the 14 now use their collective bargaining power to change things for the better and increase competitiveness.
