Champions League revamp

Wowzers if true.

Can't believe that the scab 6 would break that contract if that was a penalty clause known to them.

Two possibilities:

1) They were advised that their actual exposure is far less
2) They determined that writing that check was objectively less bad than the probable consequences of not writing it

I tend to think it's more #1 than #2, but we'll see.

Perez would go from zero to instant hero in my opinion if it’s true that they all have to pay 300m if they withdraw. Spurs will be finished.

For now I shall have pleasant thoughts about a huge fine but I think both those points you make are probably right.

Also the PL need to hurry up 3 of the 14 won’t be PL teams soon

That just changes the players. It likely won't change the underlying positions at the table all that much.

One possible reason for the Prem moving slowly is to let the players at the table change so the six can't claim they got railroaded by three relegated clubs.

A Spanish perspective on the ESL from Robin Pardo Roques:

Now only Barça and Real Madrid are left alone in the Super League. I read today that Barça supports Florentino and thinks that the only way to get out of their financial crisis is to receive and spend even more money. We have to remember that the ridiculous levels of spending and the financial crisis that now face these clubs, was created by these teams.
Talking to Catalan friends this morning, it’s as if the two La Liga clubs were a couple of alcoholics asking for more vodka to solve their alcoholism. It’s sad. I understand why they do it but everyone (except the alcoholics) can see how it is going to end - badly. It’s not football that has to adapt, it’s the teams living beyond their means that need to adapt and learn to lose sometimes.

If UEFA/domestic leagues had any sense they would start slowly stop giving these 12 clubs so much media attention

The less media attention over time = less oversea's bandwagon jumpers.

Start promoting clubs like Everton, Leicester, Villa, Napoli, Sevilla etc and over time maybe the likes of Spurs and Arsenal who dont exactly dominate football will lose influence.
