I think we could get away with 6 points but that would mandate one of the wins being at Chelsea. I'm hoping for 10 points as that will elevate us to possibly finishing 2nd. This will give us a more favourable group if we achieve Champions League qualification. I still think at this stage we could finish anywhere between 2nd-11th get the 10 points and I think 7th will be the lowest we could finish.

6pts from 4 games would be shocking.

3 of the sides should be beatable, i dont think it matters though if we beat chelsea...just that we get 9pts at least from these 4 games.

As you say, 10pts would be good but we wont finish second...we'd do well to reach 4th.

It would be shocking but the way this season has gone it wouldn't be a surprise. The reason I say it has to be Chelsea if we only get 6 is that means we have took points off a rival. If we get 9 and lose to Chelsea our position would be exactly the same in comparison to them. Realistically I think you are right about 2nd being unlikely as United and Leicester are little too far ahead. Chelsea are our biggest rival for 4th as West Hsm have some really tough fixtures and Liverpool look spent. Leicester getting knocked out of Europe is a bit disappointing as I hoped they would get bogged down in all the extra games. However they bottled it last season so that could play on their minds. If United keep going like they are they will tire in the end. I will keep believing we can get 2nd until its as forlorn as 1st looks now.

With the WBA rearranged we now have

1st March Southampton H
4th March WBA A
8th March Chelsea A
13th March Burnley H

We need at least 9pts from these 4 games to keep us in that top 4 mix.

If we win 3 from 4 we'd have 28played, 15 wins. That would leave us 10 games to hit 5 wins.

Think it was @catcherintherye who said some time ago we need another run of 4 wins on the bounce.. and he's 100% right.. We're hanging on by a thread now to the CL spots and without a series of wins we'll be cut loose. 3 wins from that lot is now non negotiable... and that is just to keep up.

Stopping the rot against the poor sides would make all the difference to how far we can go.

I’m hopeful that we’ve been chastened enough times for all the players to realise that they need to bring 100% every game, not just against the big sides.

But then again, I thought the same pre-Fulham...

Chelsea play Utd then RS then us
We have the easier run in of the teams at the top

We beat Southampton, then we go and beat West Brom. West Ham lose to City, rs draw with Sheffield Utd, Utd v Chelsea draw then the rs draw with Chelsea.

We'll be 4th, 4 points clear of the rs, 1 point clear of Chelsea, 1 point clear of West Ham and our next game would be Chelsea away so a chance to go 4 points clear of them.

This happens in the beautiful world of maccavennie

How do I get there?

nxt season we will mark my words.

Thanks mate and I make you right.Certainly to get CL we will need another "burst" like that. It would be lovely to string another 3 or 4 wins on the bounce together now, that is for sure!

Hmmm...favourable fixtures with rivals having tough games, riding on a wave whilst rivals have had bad defeats recently, almost at a fully fit squad whilst rivals have lost key players this week. Most rivals still in Europe also.

This is the opportunity right here. The CL is there in the next 6 games for us. We navigate them successfully and we could be in pole position coming into the run in. Liverpool Chelsea and West Ham all have their own problems and even Leicester and United aren’t far enough away to discount a collapse yet (especially Leicester with Maddison out)

Time to do the most un Everton thing ever and actually take advantage of an opportunity. Every time we’ve thought it’s gone this season we’ve come back into it with one win. We’re probably just a decent run away from being in the position of being able to afford another few set backs and still make it.

It all starts on Monday, if we can show a decent performance and get the win then I think everyone will start taking notice as our away form is brilliant. Even more than Anfield, I think this is our most important league game of the season now.

I said a while back, when Europe starts again if we were within 5 points (and I meant dropped points) we had a real chance. That was always my barometer. We are probably just about clinging to a chance of 2nd place (they are 6 more dropped points than us).

In a couple of games, we will ahve played Liverpool, Chelsea, United & Leicester twice which is 4 of the best 5 teams. We will have City on the final day, which is abotu as good a time to play them as you can get (hopefully with them focussing on other finals they may be in, but not the FA Cup!)

Leicester going out of the EL is a big of a bummer, I'd have liked to see them go forward. But there's no doubt Arsenal, Spurs and to a degree Manchester United may start to focus more on the EL with potentially Chelsea & Liverpool focussing on CL (though this isn't neccearily a good thing if the latter win it!).

Sides start to make sacrifices at this stage. The hope will be those below us start to forget the league and it wil allow us to ideally cement no lower than 8th and work upwards.

Southampton feels a massive game now. If we don't sort out our home form v weaker teams it's unlikely we will finish in Europe, If we can we could still get top 4.

4 wins at home is nothing short of disgusting, I know it's helped by being a great away side but that is really appalling, I know home and away there isn't much difference due to no fans but can't be having that.
