Chang, chang can you hear the cash register? What a pitiful amount, it really is pathetic, mind what does one expect from our supremely marvelous management.

Of course there are.
SL, actually made a point not far off from mine earlier
My point is that we should be more fashionable than Sunderland and Fulham and Newcastle, simply by virtue of success on the pitch. The fact we are not more fashionable than these other teams (assuming we're not as this is the best deal we can get) should be chalked up to poor marketing. We can lay some of that blame at the feet of David Moyes, but I think a larger portion of that blame can be apportioned to culture that seems to consider Everton a plucky little club. The media treats us this way because we treat ourselves this way, and therefore sponsors see us that way. This is a cultural problem in the attitude of the club that needs to change. Roberto is certainly seeing to his side of that.
If the above is wrong and we are more fashionable than those other clubs, then the blame can still be laid at the business side because we didn't get the deal we could have.
I'm not necessarily saying we could get more than Newcastle given our current state. I'm saying that if we cannot, then there is a failure on the part of Everton in selling their brand.
This is about comparing our turnover with the other clubs you've mentioned. A company looking to sponsor a premiership club will look at what their competitors are getting payed, that's why we all get roughly the same amount. There's no coincidence that all those clubs are exposed to a world wide audience on "Super Sunday" the same amount of times a season and the money those clubs can gain from a sponsorship deal. All the positive image changes in the world won't alter that fact.
I'd change our sponsor every year for more money.
It's incredible to see how far we've fell from grace since the inception of the Premier League. We really are all resigned to being also rans. There's been such an unbelievable amount of mismanagement, and these kind of deals have been a big part of the problem since 1992.
He didnt say anything about evertonians in the manufacturing industry.A wise man once said: Evertonians are born, not manufactured
I actually agree(!) with your point about 'acting like a big club' and think its one of the things Martinez is trying to do. A lot of the talking down of Everton came from the weekly broadcast comments of our previous manager, and that is something which Martinez has avoided. Its only one piece in the jigsaw, but its a positive move in the right direction. I still think we get the sponsorship we currently deserve, but think that winning a couple of trophies and being in Europe regularly will get us better deals all round.I suppose this is where we disagree. Spurs have won nothing either, sure they've been in Europe a fair bit these past few years, but that's a bit new. And yet when people talked title contenders at the beginning of the year they were mentioned, and we were not. This was true even after a few months when we were in better position than them.
Most people seem to think they are in the drivers' seat for fifth, even though we're 2 points behind with 2 games in hand and a better GD. Why is this? I think a large portion of it is how Spurs have handled themselves off the pitch. They talk like they are part of the big club group. That has helped them get closer to bridging the gap.
As for success on the pitch, yeah, it could be better, but I'm of the opinion that for a club in our position we need to act and look the part of a CL contender to truly become one. Or a billionaire blue needs to buy us and kindly spend all of his wealth on making us the greatest force in world football.
I do see your point, I just feel that we are being sold short by being lumped in with Fulham/Sunderland/Newcastle instead of with Spurs.
Obviously City/Chelsea are in a different stratosphere financially, and Arsenal/United/Liverpool are in a different stratosphere in terms of worldwide support, but I still think we should be closer to Spurs than Fulham based entirely on the pitch. We are not because we've been bad off the pitch.
5 Mill a season, for our principle sponsor, is pitiful considering the size of our club and ambition.
!!! We agree here, for the most part.I actually agree(!) with your point about 'acting like a big club' and think its one of the things Martinez is trying to do. A lot of the talking down of Everton came from the weekly broadcast comments of our previous manager, and that is something which Martinez has avoided. Its only one piece in the jigsaw, but its a positive move in the right direction. What ambition is that, mate?
How much have we spent on strikers in the last 5 years? Our transfar market activity is pretty damning in revealing our true ambition. If as Del says the Chang deal is the 7th best deal in the league, then we're right where we ought to be.
Yes. A number of Europa League games against box office opposition in the later rounds, and being in the mix for the cups and top four would soften the blow of a rise in ticket prices, which I think is on the cards for next year, or the year after. But I agree...25% increase though not impossible, would be difficult.I've already said it, it's a 25% increase on the last deal over the 3-year period. If we could increase all other incoming revenue (tv deal(s) excluded) by 25% for the next three years, I'd be both astounded and delighted.
'Most lucrative in the clubs history'
Erm yes Elstone. EVERY single deal we sign from now until the end of time SHOULD BE.
