2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

Doucoure's contract celebration was not necessarily targeted at our club. Pick up the phone, I'll sign a contract, may well be to ANY interested party having shown he can score.
if Gana rumours are true that hes looking to move on, we may well and truelly in the smelly stuff.
Because refusing to give suitable minutes to the likes of Chermiti and patterson and not giving loan players like alcaraz a proper chance means we have no established plans going forwards.
We will have to buy a dozen players instead of 3-4 quality ones.
Alcaraz (cos thats this thread) needs game time from the start of match, in the no10 roll, with the likes of N'diaye alongside him.

So if Moyes doesn’t fancy Alcaraz then, who else does he play in the 10 role???
So it doesn’t necessarily mean he will keep him and play him there next season, personally I think if doucoure is playing 10 every game next season, then we will have to have a very good season, Europe id say. Because playing doucoure and similar hard working players with limited talent and Floating around 11tg/12th won’t go down well imo.
If you mean this season then he could be playing Alcaraz, ndiaye, McNeil, iroegbunam, chermiti etc instead, but he continually picks doucoure. It seems pretty clear that he likes what doucoure gives him in that role and I would be surprised if we don’t offer him any sort of deal (perfectly happy, but surprised). It seems like he’s just not sold on Alcaraz, I’ve quite liked what I’ve seen myself but it’s not my opinion that matters and if Moyes doesn’t think he’s worth signing then I’d rather we don’t bring him in just for the sake of it and instead identify someone he does want and will use.

Yes I know how modern football works, but you need more than just being an athlete, Liverpool, city, Arsenal, Villa, Newcastle etc will put talent before hard work,
Moyes maybe the other way, time will tell, but if he wants to keep the likes of doucoure, Harrison etc and have them in the team , then we know how
He wants to build his new Everton and it will end in tears
Those teams you mention ally hard work to fast running and talent, but the first of those is hard work. We have no pace, and not much talent, therefore hard work has to make up the vast majority of our game. None of the teams you mention would look at Alcaraz, because he doesn't work hard, and because if you aren't going to track back and tackle, you need to be amazing. From the 5 teams you mention, the only 2 players I can think of who don't bust a gut all game and track runners etc are Haaland and Salah, and he sure as heck isn't in their league.

Not sure why you dont think Alcaraz "works hard" and that he doesnt "track back".

The one game he played significant minutes in his actual central position, he got a goal and assist.

I hate to dog on Doucoure, because it’s not his fault that he’s picked there, but by having him undroppable in the number 10 spot severely hampers the likes of Alcaraz and McNeil. It stunts the entire attack. I do have a lot of hope that Alcaraz can be good here if given a central role. I think we need to aim better than ‘runs a lot’ at CAM, sorry Dukes.

He can't tackle, and is bypassed quite a lot when the opposition come forward.

Didnt see that vs Palace, Brentford nor Wolves or from memory West Ham.

I think gradually hes realised that no matter what he does Moyes is stubbornly going to misuse players as if to prove to TFG that HE should be in charge of transfers.

If he was the one to bring in Alcaraz then id wager hed be playing every game. In his position.

Ironically, he'll probably down tools like Doucoure soon. Seemed to work for him.

i think this is categorically untrue

he’s shown in all his games and particularly his starts his willingness and energy to press, run, put a foot in

he’s also got a bit of snark about him which we are desperately lacking

seems criminal to keep playing doucoure over him, could let a really decent player slip away for a minimal fee, and we need players

I think some are forgetting that DM was appointed manager to make sure we start at BMD as a Premier League club. I don't personally think TFG intend keeping him for more than next season.
