The thing is we know at this point Maupay is a bad finisher, but if he actually can get to xG of like 12 or whatever, which if we use him regularly is in range, he probably still scores like 8 goals or so. Che Adams probably gets that as a best case and we have to pay more money for that! Just use Maupay and give Chermiti chances. Hopefully DCL gets 20 games in. I’m fine with buying another striker but there is never ever justification to spend 8 digits on a player everyone already knows isn’t any good.

You’re making my exact argument which is everything is worth considering. Yeah for a player that always finishes poorly you have to consider how much the ball actually goes in more. It’s all useful information.

Xg is all well and good, but it doesn’t factor in when a player has feet shaped like a banana. Or in maupays case, I reckon his foot is just one giant big toe.
