If Adams / Gnonto go through, that's 4 attacking players Everton have brought in. 4 more than last season. Has to be a better goal output just collectively.

NoWell then the stats do show that don't they
Equally you would have to do a lot more testing to show that Adams > Maupay and, in the absence of statistically valid evidence supporting the hypothesis that Adams is the superior player, you have to reject that conclusion.I'm unfortunately very aware and have spent the last year with excel sheets open all the place! As you state it measures a singular dependent variable to conclude relation or not. To make the statement Maupay = Adams you would need to do far more testing.
7 months ago he was linked to Salad FC.Nobody wants Maupay, that’s the issue. Dubious links to Salernitana from 7 weeks ago don’t count.
Lived experience, bud.I don’t see why we as fans are so quick to go to the worst case scenario immediately and worse treat it as fact before it’s even materialised.
What if it's Maupay?I would be trying to find out who Southampton plan on replacing him with. Then sign that dude.
Except that wasn't what you were testing for, your statement was Adams = Maupay based purely on one variable.Equally you would have to do a lot more testing to show that Adams > Maupay and, in the absence of statistically valid evidence supporting the hypothesis that Adams is the superior player, you have to reject that conclusion.
Adams is mince. Science.
He'd be 3rd choice and Dom is unreliable so could be 2nd choice.
Who’s 2nd choice? There’s no way Maupay or Chermiti would play instead of him.
Adams if he comes in
Nope, @Nymzee put up some stats to prove Adams was better than Maupay, I suggested the stats he presented did no such thing and, yes, glibly joked that Adams = Maupay. My point was that the stats presented likely showed no significant difference between the two and that there was certainly nothing in the stats presented that supported superiority. I certainly didn't expect a philosophical discussion on the use of statistics in sophistry!Except that wasn't what you were testing for, your statement was Adams = Maupay based purely on one variable.
I haven't claimed anything other than it is silly to make conclusions on selective data.

Not saying Adams is that much better than Maupay, but he's clearly a different sort of player. If you pick a different set of stats to compare, you can see that he (1) scores slightly more goals (still not many!), (2) creates more chances, (3) wins the ball in the air much more, and (4) contributes more defensively

I assume you've determined significance for these data and not simply accepted that one number is slightly larger numerically than the other? Since you're all about the stats you know how to properly appraise them, I assume. Or are you just the Cumbrian @The big iguana?Well the concersation you jumped into was comparing the goalscoring records of the two players hence only one variable presented (which Adams came out on top). But here are some more stat to show they are not equal players:
