Dunno. I'll make a comment if I see it on MOTD now, but from memory he did drift too far initially but then stayed in the gap attempting to block the pass then came across quickly. If he turns round upon realising his mistake and runs towards Mata then Mata just runs across him and gets a shot in on his left.
Well, we end the season (and Moyes ends his tenure with Everton) by putting Heitinga on when we were chasing the match. You couldn't make it up.
Felt bad for Jelavic when he hit that bullet header. Right at Cech.
I only watched the first half as my missus dragged me off to bed. We looked good. Were we ****e in the second half ?

You're getting there. Why was the ball on his right foot?
Because Distin's positioning dictated that the only pass that could get the ball to Mata would see him receive it on his right, heading towards the corner flag rather than towards the goal. As someone else has already pointed out, had Distin marked Mata more tightly he would have left space for Mata to dart into AND allow him to receive a short pass on the floor into his left foot.
Distin's positioning was perfect in that passage of play.
Just noticed this. Distin didn't even see Mata moving in behind him.
Well he's awfully lucky then, because by sheer chance he maintained a position that allowed him to cover the on-ball defender in case he was beaten inside AND prevent the easy short pass along the floor to Mata. I wish I could absent-mindedly play that well. If Distin thought there was no other Chelsea player nearby, why didn't he close down and double up on the attacker with the ball?
I watched the entire game mate, including that passage of play. Distin was our MoM.
