The reason why we played better in the second half was that Chelsea let theif foot off the gas and stopped pressing us, giving us space and time to play along the ground

In the first half they were all over us, resulting in a lot of long balls being hoofed to no good effect.

We need to find a solution to bypass the press without a target man to aim at

I felt pretty good after this performance, and then a few bells on here makes me feel all angry and frustrated again.. not even sure if its worth it being on here some times.
Agreed - some of the comments are not what I hear from my mates and at the match in "real life". Maybe some on here just get some relief from taking the woes of their lives out on internet forums.

Duals, I genuinely don't see how people can excuse or find positives in one, going out of a cup and two, showing that lack of quality.

You've got three of the back four who are totally finished. Towards the end Jagielka got a pass from Kenny in yards of space and just one touch leathered it out of play.

So what’s the answer in this situation we’re in?

EXACTLY.

They conserved energy and then, at will, got the second goal minutes after bringing on Morata. Until Niasse caused some mayhem they were in total control.

I'm just gutted that we played that well and somehow lost. And the reason is simple and lies at the feet of the board and Walsh. No one to stick it in the net

£100mill of our transfers didn't play and we still put on of the best, most organised, and threatening display all season.

It's all down to Koeman IMO. The striker issue is a problem, but performances not.

not sure what you are trying to say? we are rubbish, we sacked the manager because of this, our covering manager has known for 24 hours he is in charge, the team lost but overall performance was encouraging, there was no transfer window in the last 24 hours, the covering manager has to go with what he has. Does that explain the situation better for you?

Ok but using your own words to counter that with the poor players you mention above they actually played well in the 2nd half.

I am at a loss at what you expected from a manager a day or so in charge and with a squad in your own admittance some of whom are poor. So who would you have picked then?

Watching everton do much the same thing doesn't make me happy, no.

We lined up 4-3-3 with Williams and McCarthy and smacked it long to Lennon for 50 minutes. We didn't make subs at half time - doesn't take a genius to work out that was Unsworth looking to not do a 'Koeman' and admit his mistakes.

All the damage was done in the first half and Chelsea just let us do our thing in the second half.

Pat pat pat.

didn't chelsea have 1 shot on target in the first half?

let us do our thing, like 2-3 brilliant saves from the keeper and hitting the crossbar, very generous of them, they also brought on 3 senior players they didn't want to play today to try change the way the game was going, we outshot them mate, and not crap efforts but genuine chances we should have taken really

Through tinted I don't like Unsy glasses?

Not at all Joe.

If the team had given us something, anything at 0-0, or we'd lined up in anything other than the tired, dismal 4-3-3 that hasn't worked all season, I'd have been understanding.

But McCarthy? Williams? Jagielka? 4-3-3? Long ball to Lennon? What were we hoping for?
