Duals, I genuinely don't see how people can excuse or find positives in one, going out of a cup and two, showing that lack of quality.

You've got three of the back four who are totally finished. Towards the end Jagielka got a pass from Kenny in yards of space and just one touch leathered it out of play.
We've got poo players for CB's with the turning speed of a mountain, yes, but honestly you saw the 2nd half and thought it was crap? The whole half? When we did everything to score but the spirit of Southall was with Caballero for some reason and he played an absolute worldie?

So imagine if we had actual alternatives to those 2 CB's, or if we didn't also play a half-B team? Mirallas and McCarthy have a total of 16 minutes these last 7 months or something, between them, Beningimigemgiemime literally just played for the first time and Kenny is a bit deer in the headlights and we still have no "out and out" strikers.

All of this is not down to Unsworth, at all, and credit to him is we actually had a go. If this was Cowhead we'd been 5:0 down by half-time by these "B-teamers" (which all of them, bar that kid in CM, are not, but another topic I guess) and because it was a spirited defeat with an actual good amount of football being played on show.

Am I happy we lost? Feck no.
Are all the other posters here? Feck no.
Did we show a massive, massive change? Yes, and if we show it like we did in the 2nd half today against Leicester on Sunday we'd obliterate them. Will we? Who knows, but at least we know it's there, it's "unlocked" (as cliched as that is) and it is achievable.

Better than a [beeping] win that! And best away day in a long time... who’d have thought we can play football?!

And not even meant ironically.

That's why I'm fuming. How can anyone even think this?

6 points needed from next 2 prem games..... otherwise we are in deeper doo doos...hope DU can inspire the team to do that..Williams and Jags should be nowhere near that team..selection of the former was baffling to say the least..why wasn't Keane playing ? Kenny never lived up to his hype. Its a start however and you just cannot blame a guy who has been in charge for such a short time....Wish him all the luck for sunday..Do it Mr Unsworth !!

It's always a negative going out of the cup and I'm not happy about it.
The lack of quality though? Have to disagree with you on that, thought we were more than a match for them and we had 4 good chances (a big improvement on what would have happened under RK).
I know you don't want Unsworth as manager but, that was an improvement on what we've seen this season?

Much improved second half. But we still lost. Again. Plucky little Everton etc. It's still very disheartening but, and perhaps this is the key, in a different way. Put it this way - I'm now expecting us to absolutely hump Leicester and will be livid if we don't. COYB.

Thanks for asking.
Not Williams - anyone but Williams.
Lookman rather than Lennon, or rather than Mirallas.
I'd have had anyone, ANYONE in the squad in there other than McCarthy. He's been abysmal for years. He doesn't even want to play for us.

I agree he could have picked one or two different players in midfield but you mentioned how awful the defence was how do you reckon he could sort that in two day?

Either way you look at ti it would have been a combo of the players you dislike so....

But don't you think the players he did pick gave a good account of themselves... oh wait hang on.... what was it their B team and foot of gas.... Its easy to think that but Conte did not look happy the entire second half. If that was his tactic he sure didn't look happy about being under the kosh for 40 mins

Probably because they go to the games and have seen about 1 shot on goal in the last month, and we had, what, 20 today?

Also you're taking a random bloke on twitter and assuming every Evertonian except you is like that. Excessive need for WUMmery, frandel.

I really don't understand what you were expecting, pluck young replacements for that three of the back four that are finished out of thin air?

People are happy because the team actually had a go second half. Yeah we still lost, yeah it wasn't Chelsea's first team, but it wasn't our first team either.

Just hoping it's the start of a turnaround and we'll build from here

But Stevon - they've been so average this season and that was their B team. They coasted through. Are we honestly celebrating the keeper making saves?!?!

Have they been so average though mate really, 4th in the league, on course to top a CL group containing Roma and athletico, beaten spurs away, beaten Athletico Madrid away - first English team ever to beat them at their ground, last 8 of the LC.

They've lost 2 games this season, to a brilliant City side, and a shock loss to Palace

As for their B team - yup they made a load of changes, but still played the likes of Willian, Ridiger, Cahill, and a lot of other highly rated players, throw on the fact they brought on 3 Spain Internationals second half then was it a 'weak' team?

They didn't coast mate, Conte made subs to try to get control back today and it failed by and large second half, just poor finishing/good keeping was the difference

Thing is mate - that's not true at all. I've said before; don't give him it temporarily, give it him now. Otherwise we get this stupid situation we are in now, where everyone is getting misty eyed over effort, 'dogs of war' and nice words in a press conference rather than looking at it coldly; we lost (again) and we are out of a cup (again) and Unsworth said we need to win, and we haven't.

We had a good 45 mins in the game after they'd scored and were winning we prob should have had an equaliser but failed to get one and they changed it and went 2-0 up and finished the game then we scored. we never looked like winning at any point but it wasn't too bad overall considering the opposition tonight.
