I’m one of the first to call out some of the mediocrity that we’ve had to put up with over the past while. But tonight I saw hard work and desire from all the players. Some lack quality. But can’t fault them when they put in a shift. And they did that tonight. Credit to Pickford, Keane, Godfrey, Branthwaite, Gordon and Dobbin in particular. Can enjoy Christmas a bit better now.

Agree with the commentators choice of Pickford. Kept us in the game with some top saves.

If I’m picking outfield players, I’d say Gordon and Branthwaite. Superb ball from Gordon for the goal and he was always a threat in the break.

Something to build on I hope

Let us don't kid ourselves it was not a good performance but it was a great result. Pickford Motm by a country mile but outfield players that really impressed me was Gordon and Branthwaite. I think in that type of game looking for the counter Dobbin was best suited over Simms and it showed. I am not writing Simms off but do not think that was a Simms type of game but don't give up on him. We have so many lemons though with Holgate and Iwobi prime lemons. Godfrey is all effort and cannot fault it but he is not a clever player and with Doucoure messing up a counter attack Godfrey still has to take some blame for leaving Mount in too much space.
Happy with the point and seeing some young players play but still a poor team performance
It depends on what you class as a good performance for tonight.

It wasn't a great watch, well far from it, and we never looked likely to score, but defensively we were mostly rigid, disciplined and composed.

They knew their role(s), tactics were as effective as we could have expected and they worked and played well together. In some ways, it was a really good one.

Most of us felt we were looking at a hiding here, yet instead we looked as if we might have won it later on if things had panned out.

Heroic that. They literally left everything out on that pitch and that's all we ask. Doucs, Godfrey and Keane were immense. Gordon drove well with the ball too. An unexpected point but we'll take it all day long. Branthwaite must get 1st team opportunities now.
