I understand the Referees Association is about to issue a statement accepting that Chris Kananagh did make a mistake, but not the he was cheating or that he didn't know the rules of football but that in this case it was his lack of knowledge of anatomy, his simple mistake was that he thought Rodgi had three legs. You can't expect our referees to have a medical degree. Nothing to see here, move on.

He’s probably the worst ref in the league some of his decisions from matches and Var have been really poor, im sure he got took off a premier league game aswell in the past due to poor referring.

Yep. The linesman at the time obviously didn’t give it as offside. But that could potentially have been overturned if the handball had been given (ludicrous it wasn’t).

We need to use the injustice of it to galvanise us. Could be worth more than a point in the long run.
yeah and the PL have confirmed there was no offside as they checked the entire thing back after the game

I dunno like, I'd have rather have been a point further clear than the drop

Again, I'm not good enough of a bloke to not find a way to blame this entire thing on Benitez. The tosspot

We have to take this on the chin, as blatant as it was. If VAR had been around in 97/98 we would have been relegated then.

The thing is with VAR is they have one job.
Its not like they are spinning plates at work.
They can ( and do) take as long as they like.
To be wrong under those conditions is inexcusable
Sat in a bunker hundreds of miles away with no baying crowd or players harrassing him. All he has to do is look at the images in front of him impartially something quite clearly beyond him.

Just had this from a friend who used to be a referee and who I have known for years and trust implicitly…

BTW I assessed Chris Kavanagh on numerous occasions when he was officiating in the local leagues on Sat/Sun a few years back and I know for a fact that he has no allegiances to either of the Manchester clubs.
He follows a far lower club from Yorkshire after his Grandad.

That said, he is completely baffled as to why Kavanagh didn’t get the referee to review the pictures of the pitch side monitor.
