Smoked from the age of about 14/15 up until I was 34 and stopped before my daughter was born as my (then 5 year old) son demanded me to.

I haven't had a cigarette for 10 years now. Don't miss it though I still absolutely love the smell of a cigarette so don't mind if anyone is close by smoking.

Took me 3 times to quit though and I was a 20 a day smoker. Used Champix to quit and it was bloody rough.

I would recommend anyone thinking of quitting to do it if they can, no matter how hard you think it is (which it is) you can do. Those first few days are the toughest but once you get through them you'll feel the difference.

Oh and I don't think Champix is allowed anymore either. Had the scattiest dreams!
I've got some now, they do work except i usually take it up a few months after finishing them. Gonna try again soon.

The dreams are horrific though I agree.

Smoked for nigh on 40 years.
Packed them in 3 weeks ago, spur of the moment thing after coughing my arsehole up as I was about to light another one. Stuck it back in the box, went the shop over the road and bought a disposable vape thing.

Not lit one since and hopefully never will again 🤞

Those disposable vapes are one of the worst ideas ever though. They have a higher nicotine content than I ever vaped, they're ludicrously addictive, they're supposed to last 3-4 days but people get through one in a day,
I agree but they helped me where nothing nothing had worked before. Bought a 600 pull one and it lasted me 2 weeks.

They're a fashion item for kids which is horrendous though. The amount of kids you see strolling to school puffing away on them is appalling and needs tackling ASAP.

Also needs a proper recycling scheme setting up for them too, they are a ticking time bomb.

….I suppose because footy was quite serious at a formative age, I never felt the temptation to start. They do stink a bit, never dated a girl who smoked. Never tried drugs either but i don’t recall them being around when I was young.

Guinness, Aussie Whites and dark rum are my sins.

Nicotine pouches are the way forward.

Much better alternative than vapes, they hit better and are a lot safer.

Started at 14 and smoked for 20 years. I'd go through 3 packs if I was out drinking. Stopped 13 years back when a friend died and I realized I didn't want my fiancé to go through what his wife was going through. Life is way better without them. Travelling is more fun. Work meetings are less stressful. I smell better and my non-smoking now wife coughs less.

I'd still love one every single day but it's not an option. I also found that booze was less enjoyable without them so I stopped that 4 years ago too.
A step too far for me. lol
Plus I find I can actually appreciate the taste of beer more since packing the ciggies in.

Not a smoker myself, although back in the days when smoking in pubs, bars and clubs was still allowed, there’d get a point in the night, especially in the winter when no windows/doors were open for long in the boozer, that the accumulated smoke in the room would make my eyes water something terrible.

I found the best way to stop this from happening was to have 1 cigarette.
I don’t know what sorcery this was, but smoking 1 single cigarette would stop my eyes from watering of the place got too smokey

I think vaping is fine if you're someone who smokes and are trying to quit. They're definitely the lesser of two evils.

The problem is non-smokers picking up vapes and ending up being hooked on nicotine as a result.

3 great vices though I have to be honest rum for me with a ginger ale. Aussie White reminds me of my dad taking me in the blob shop as a young buck and my dad letting me have a bit

The colours and flavours are totally and utterly aimed at kids.

It’ll never be proved, unless a whistle blower gets involved, but the rise of multi coloured, fruit flavoured vapes, very coincidentally coincided with ciggies, going completely out of fashion with young people.

There’s no way this wasn’t a deliberate marketing strategy by the tobacco companies.

They do have a place, but not when they’re 100% aimed at getting kids hooked on nicotine.

My lad and all his mates use them. In their heads, they don‘t think they’re smoking and think they’re harmless.

They should start by raising the age to 18, ban them from being on display and ban them from being dayglo colours, with cartoons etc on them.

Same as ciggie packs, dull, boring and messages of death.
Parents are buying them for their kids like they're sweets. Thick as f.
