But refs are employing the same rules are they not? Yes, there may be better executors of the rules than others, as there are in all aspects of work, but their job is just the same refereeing Scunthorpe v Grimsby as it would be refereeing Chelsea v Arsenal.
It always wound me up that poor Premier League refs would be punished by being given a few weeks in League One... Why should League One have worse refereeing? It's the same rules us it not? If they're a bad referee, they're a bad referee in any division.

...they were talking about Clattenburg not getting the Cup Final on radio early this morning. He is recognised as the best English referee but I can't help thinking he could be a bit dodgy, his performance in that Derby match is etched in my memory and I find it difficult to put it down to error.
Even so I'd prefer Clattenburg to ref one of our games, for instance he usually plays the advantage rule very well.
In contrast Jon Moss is very fair in that he is utterly incompetent with lots of his calls with no preference shown to either side, just pure dumb luck as to which side gets the most.
.....he wasn't allocated one of our games for a long time after that Derby and even then it was longer before he came to Goodison. It reflects the suspicion that something was very wrong in that Derby match. I accept, though, that he has actually been fine in our games since but I'm still wary of his integrity.

He seems decent enough, Michael Oliver. Best one around by a mile is Dowd, but he reffed the final three years ago so cant ref it again. Seems a strange rule to me.

The Serie A giants were knocked out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage by Benfica last night after an ill-fated 0-0 second leg in Turin.
Clattenburg sent off visiting defender Enzo Perez in the second-half before an angry confrontation on the touchline saw substitutes Mirko Vucinic and Lazar Markovic both shown the red card.
And the top flight referee has today been slammed by Conte for his performance.
The Juve boss said: "I didn't appreciate either the attitude of our opponents or the referee.
"UEFA should show us more respect by sending a referee of the required standard.
"The referee allowed them to obstruct the play the whole game. Before the game he told us that he wouldn't stop play every time a player hit the floor, but that's what happened".
Not everyone in football thinks that Clattenburg is the 'best ref around'.
