If Trump were in charge it would be back this weekend.

I think the British government are on the back foot because they undoubtedly were slow in reacting to the threat and were not prepared for what was to come or else they have the worst medical advisors in the world.

Either way they are playing catch up now against mounting criticism and I think they will be slow to try to get things back to normal too quickly in case of a second surge and even more criticism.

And that's the right decision. If group in the UK.your friend Trump was in charge we would be looking at a lot more deaths - just as they are in the USA. The backwoodsmen we've seen demonstrating for the right to die haven't - thank goodness - got an equivalent

Forgive me for taking all this with a massive pinch of salt, if they had a vaccine, 000s wouldnt be dying daily mate.

And yes I know it needs to go through trials, but if it worked, why wouldnt it be given to the dying, to you know, stop them dying.

But forgive me, im just really sick of reading about promises being made that people cant keep.
vaccine is not much use when you have the virus ,it only stops you getting it

It isn’t just the people who tragically die in this pandemic that cause the concern it is the much larger numbers who require urgent treatment in our overstretched hospital system.
A vaccine remains our best hope of returning to some form of normality and the scientific community is confident that at least one of the 79 or so currently in development will be successful. They were fairly far advanced in a SARS vaccine before containment of the virus prevented them from taking it to completion.
I cannot see football ( or any other large event) taking place in front of thousands of people in which ‘super spreading ‘ could occur.
In the absence of a vaccine , before we resume we will have to be able to operate a vastly enlarged and robust testing / contact and trace system of the order of that seen in S. Korea and Germany.
Or we will need to build more hospitals and health infrastructure to prevent the constant stream of patients from destroying our healthcare system completely.
As important as football is to us , it isn’t important enough to the majority of people to risk it compromising our entire economy.
Exactly
Doctor :So you have the virus ,where were you in the last week as we need to contact those you were with
Patient :In work with ,4 others ,at home with the wife ,in the pub with 3 lads, oh at goodison with 39,000 other lids

The lockdown isnt the end of it mate , and even then that will be reviewed in another 3 weeks.
There will be no contact whatsoever while the social distancing is in place. That is going to be many months away.
even with no fans how many people are needed to put on a football match that is televised .
Squads ,managers ,physios ,Sky and other broadcasters, catering crew, medics ,ambulances etc .

Some of the statements coming out from the various FAs and league are disgusting, especially while people are dying due to this thing. Germany is particularly nauseating allowing their clubs to train? The Don is right, football don't matter at the moment!

Having said that, all this talk of behind closed doors matches or a festival of football at one venue is complete gash, and I am offended by the very notion of such garbage, especially from the Danny Murphy's and the rest of the red media twonks speaking for all fans, as if that's what we want! They have no right to speak for me.

As our pinkie chums used to like to say at their neverending protests that they had every week "football without fans is nothing!". Well, We know there would be thousands of fans outside grounds or whatever venue they choose, any sane person can see this, yet this rubbish is still spouted about the integrity of the competition's!?! Give over for god's sake!

Amazing how they really want to get this season finished or called as it stands, and nuts to the teams in the relegation places, at any and all costs? Also it doesn't seem to matter if they ruin any upcoming seasons, even though this one is buggered?!

Tbh I don't give a flying one what they do in relation to that lot and winnig the league, it doesn't matter and it's tainted now anyway. This season is done and needs to be called as such, I just hope me, my family and all you and yours get through this safe and well, and then footy and Everton can come back when it's right to do so.
Because THIS MEANS MORE you know who the prime culprits would be

this should be a sticky and produced whenever havrey and his mates show up

Oh , I think the clamour is at its peak now mate , when the figures pass 20,000 the reality will finally hit home.

The FA , FIFA ,UEFA and the rest of the governing bodies are being pressured by Sky , BT etc because of the money involved.
There's no easy solutions here , but Life has to come before Money , there wont be any movement until it is safe to do so....and that is a very long way off.
Its a pity Boris did not realise this earlier
