You see the lineup from that game and it doesn’t look like a team that should have been anywhere near trouble. Limpar Cottee Rideout Stuart as a front four!

Like you just said, they don't want to lose teams of millions of pounds. Because the lower league clubs won't be losing the money, they don't care, its just a game of football at the end of the day.

For sporting reasons, only the RS and Leicester would want this season to continue, nobody else would care if it wasn't about money. That to me shows football cares more about money, like a business does, than just getting out on the pitch and playing football.
Sheffield too.

I imagine this social distancing is going to be here a good while so how are players meant to tackle each other?
It won’t affect Schneiderlin like but it is a thought.....

You‘d think they’d have to do a lot of testing of the players, managers/staff, referees and even ball boys throughout the season....potentially before every game. That is a lot of tests and UK hasn’t really ramped up production/buying as far as I am aware.

I love the game, but do you really prioritize that many tests for sport?

It may be feasible to play games behind closed doors later in the year, providing their isn’t a large second wave of the virus, but I can’t see stadiums being filled again until next year at the earliest.

I think the comments of Scotland’s first minister and chief medical officer were indicative of where football stands in the immediate future.
They stressed that barring any imminent breakthrough ,a vaccine for instance, that there is no prospect of large scale events including football taking place in the near future.
Rather obviously they said that it was more important to get ‘some semblance of normality back into people’s lives ‘ first and that precludes allowing anything that could fuel a resurgence of the virus.
Interestingly they also dismissed any chance of playing behind closed doors as this risked encouraging people gathering in large groups to enjoy sport together.
All rather self evident really but it does emphasise that the chances of any football being played in the near future are looking increasingly remote.
Personally I wouldn’t be surprised if football, as we know it, does not return until the start of the 21/22 season.

If Trump were in charge it would be back this weekend.

I think the British government are on the back foot because they undoubtedly were slow in reacting to the threat and were not prepared for what was to come or else they have the worst medical advisors in the world.

Either way they are playing catch up now against mounting criticism and I think they will be slow to try to get things back to normal too quickly in case of a second surge and even more criticism.
