Seems a bit off that Newcastle are allowed to be bought out by their current owners and we're jeopardizing our future with this announcement.

The really odd bit is the way Evertonians are taking the gun pointed to our heads and actually pulling the trigger for the powers-that-be, and all the while dismissing as "whataboutery" any inconvenient truths about the blood money that is happily waved through to bankroll Newcastle and Man City.

As long as "the fit and proper persons" test embraces despot money from Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, there will be an arms race of dodgy money in English football because that incentivises every major club in the country to compete...or die. As always with billionaires, most of their earnings are at best unjustified and at worst criminal. There is a cancer in the entirety of the game - even international football is now polluted with a World Cup in Qatar where foreign workers are treated like bonded slaves - and us volunteering to shoot ourselves in the head out of some misguided notion of moral purity is fantastically demented.

There's always been a faction of fans of Everton who dont even consider success on the pitch to be the objective. I can see them being very relaxed about all this. They'd congratulate the club for enabling the elimination of an ambitious future for the club.

We do have those fans.

So all of football can breathe easily now that Everton and Chelsea have had to take the hit for incompetent politicians and war mongers.

That's just great. All those other peaceniks and human rights activists who own all the other PL clubs must be relieved their ranks have been expunged of Abramovic and Usmanov and their good names are not now coming into disrepute.

We are dead in the water as a top flight club. That stunt has killed us just as sure as night follows day.
There time will come. Blood money doesnt have a future!

Indeed. The problem for the rest of us is that a club the size of Everton shrivels and dies if it cannot realise its potential. A Norwich can be relegated and bounce back in a year or two because that's the potential of that club being realised: to yo-yo with the odd chance of a special season or two where a League Cup final appearance or a sixth place finish goes into club folklore. A club like Everton goes down only if it suffers a catastrophe. And if it does fall, it falls like a piano from the top floor of a five-storey building - through every successive floor below.

If today's news is as bad as some of us suspect it is, we could very easily plummet into oblivion over the coming years. I wouldn't get too het up over this if the powers-that-be decided at the stroke of a pen to eliminate all dodgy money from the game overnight and every major club suffered the consequences. But we're being singled out right now with Chelsea - who are in a better position to absorb their catastrophe - while actual murderers are welcomed to Newcastle. Why should Everton be purer than every other club? Why are we holding ourselves to an impossible standard? It's like some of our fans actually don't want a level playing pitch. Pure self-inflicted victimhood. Naive in the extreme. After this season, our next Merseyside derby could be against Tranmere Rovers.

They wouldn't happen to be the same ones that call for the return of David Moyes every time we are searching for a new Manager would they?

Im dissapointed largely in the board for letting the media pressure them.

The statement today reeked of Kenwright/DBB.

Stayed out of the discussion as long as possible, as I absolutely hate mixing religion and politics with football, but this post pretty much sums up my exact feeling on the subject.

And no I'm in no way condoning Russia's invasion and war on Ukraine.
