Commercial Airliners

Ok, so I'm a huge airliner nut. Love looking at pictures of airliners, watching Youtube videos of take offs and landings. Fascinated with air traffic control. When I was younger, I'd go down to the airport and take pictures of various planes.

Now, I'll sit there with Flightradar24 up on my computer and then tune into the airport tower of choice and sit there and listen to the planes landing and taking off while watching online.

I had a business trip last year where I could have had a straight flight from Houston to Seattle but I found out that if I took the Houston to Denver to Seattle flight, I could fly on the new 787 so I paid the extra $150 out of my own pocket just to do it.

Some of my favorite websites:

http://www.liveatc.net/
https://www.flightradar24.com/

Anyone else got this sickness or is it just me?
Shot any down yet ??

@Del
@Darth Vader

That is not a standard approach procedure!

I'm exactly the same mate, I'm actually coming up to 10 years since I've flown because I'm that bad. I've been abroad most years since but by car/boat.

I think my anxiety would be just too overwhelming to try and get on one as things stand but I know I've got to get my mindset about it changed sooner rather than later as my kids don't know and I wouldn't want them to be fearful.

Last time I flew was around the same time as you mate, we went to Singapore, was an absolute nightmare.

We go to the South of France a lot on holiday now and we always drive, same when we go skiing, we drive. Every holiday I go on we have to be able to drive there, but it's always followed by tonnes of grief from the lad and missus because they would rather fly. It actually got to the point where if we chose a holiday but it involved flying, then my missus and the lad would go on there own.

Think what does it for me is the thought that if you crash, then it's end off.

snap mate lol the missus has already been abroad with my son and mother in law twice and with my son and daughter once when flying and I've stayed back.

I know I'm missing out but it just makes me want to vomit even thinking about it, had a bad flight home last time I flew and I just thought enough is enough for me because I end up dreading it like.you for months beforehand and worried about the flight home days beforehand.

Do you get all the "it's the safest form of transport" "You've got more chance of being run over...." etc. o_O
