Computer games.

Depends on the game of course, still, as you've correctly pointed out it is subjective.
For reference, I have a 2080ti with a I9 9900K in mine however the vast majority of folk aren't looking for that level of performance so, in my humble opinion of course, the 1660 would be a very reasonable GPU.
When did you get the 2080 ti? Hopefully not a few months before the RTX30's?

I see a lot of upset on forums from people who shelled out on a 2080ti!

About 18 months ago so not too bad but yeah I didn't see the Ampere card coming out that quickly!
Not too fussed though; haven't found a game I can't run on ultra at 1440P with at least 60 FPS yet.

I'm able to get 1440p/60fps on new games with around medium settings and I'm still running a 1600X and 1080ti. Overpayed big time during that mining craze but got most back by selling my old pair of R9 290X cards which were highly sought after by miners.
1080Ti is a bit of an old girl at this point but still going strong. No Ray tracing/DLSS though which would have been really nice with Cyberpunk. Holding out for the next series I think.

Still a very good card the 1080ti though isn't it. To be honest mate I very rarely play a game on Ultra settings anyway, the difference is negligable I find between high and ultra and I'll always aim for >100 FPS.

Got a 165Hz 1440p monitor so any PvP games I play like World of Tanks I drop the settings to get the framerate up there but single player stuff like Cyberpunk I'm happy at 60fps.

1080ti is a beast for last last gen.

Only flaw as you've mentioned is ray tracing, and possibly DLSS, which is a must for 1440p/4k gaming.

If you're not too fussed about RT, then yes, hold out for the next gen 40xx series. No doubt the miners will balls up that launch too!

However, Cyberpunk with DLSS and RT is a joy to behold.

Not sure what the red team will offer in terms of their entry level card and how that'll compare. Never been a big ran of AMD GPU's though. Read horror stories regarding their drivers. Team green for me!

Do love AMD cpu's though.

True true. The 3070 I have is pretty much on par with the 2080ti. Beats is in some games by a few % and gets beat in a few games by a few %.

I think price point was the key though. Paid £603 for my 3070. Overpaid slightly, but didn't feed those dirty scalpers!

I believe the 2080ti was £1300 ish?

At the time, yeah, sounds about right mate.
Still a great card, I'll be waiting for the 40 series I think though before I splurge again, I got lucky with a PS5 order and bought a LG CX OLED to go with that so I'm set for a while.

The stock 'shortages' of the new consoles are getting silly now.

I get that it's been a mad year with COVID and all, but even still I would've expected mega rich corporations like Microsoft and Sony to be churning these things out like hot cakes given the demand but apparently not. I'm also really disappointed in the retailers who got properly done up by scalpers and just shrugged as they got their sales anyway.

At this point, I'm guessing it's going to be well into the new year before I even catch sight of a Series X like..
The series S is readily available if that’s any use @Toffe3m4n ?

Ooh very nice. I've opted to avoid the next gen console for now as the kids usually just end up taking it over. Thumbs up for oled though. Let me know what its like!
