Computer games.

COD from 2007-2012 was class:

Modern Warfare
World at War
Modern Warfare 2
Black Ops
Modern Warfare 3
Black Ops 2

Haven’t really liked the other COD games since then too much

This was during its peak for competitive gaming. Since they've dumbed the game down and added so many unnecessary features. In a weird way making the maps as detailed as they are now ruined it, too many spots for people to camp/hide/flank which led to less 1v1 gun battles and more getting shot in the back.

Agreed. The introduction of battle passes, loot boxes, weird outfits / skins has ruined it for me too. All a bit gimmicky now imo

Modern warfare which was released a couple years ago was very good, genuine return to the COD4 glory days.

Basically if Infinity Ward aren't developing it then chances are it's going to be trash.
Wasn't that because it was COD4 just being brought up to modern spec?

COD4, incidentally, was the last COD i bought.

I'd go a step further and say that Ghosts and Black Ops 3 were also very good. It's when Advanced Warfare came out that the decline really started.

Never played Football Manager. Thinking of picking up FM2022. Advice?

In my view, it's lost its 'fun factor'. It feels too much like actual work nowadays. It's both too complicated and too easy at the same time - as in there's loads of options, feels like thousands of spreadsheets really, but loads don't really seem to matter or are too simplistic to be engaging. There's a streamlined mode but it plays like 'Babies First FM' and all it does is highlight how much in the main game is pointless.

Add to that the game on release is always basically broken until the new year too.

FM hit a sweet spot around 5-10 years ago and has been getting gradually worse with all the 'improvements'.

But because you're new to it you might not notice how it has deteriorated. I don't mean to put you off it, but just have to be honest in my view; and that is that you missed the golden years of it.

Can't disagree with any of that.

The constant desire to add new features has made it too bloated.

Gone are the days of getting a job in June and your first friendly is 10 minutes later.

anytime I leave a serious review on steam(and i don't do many) I never get any likes or comments so I left a stupid comment review for MGS Phantom Pain and in 2 days I have 71 likes haha wtaf.

Have to agree, it has lost it's addictiveness for me. Just had a look at mine and I haven't bought this years, first time and I looked at hours played, I thought Terraria was my highest at 283 but 2009 -2013 I had well over 500 hrs upto 971 in 2013, it's gone down to below 100 on 2020 so I sacked it off.

I put a disgusting amount of time into FM over the years (have had every release of the past 12 years, since I was 15) and it has lost its fun somewhat over the time. The 2011 and 2015 versions are my two benchmarks - with a whopping 1,000 hours on the latter. It was simpler back then and i would manage teams for 10+ in game years. Nowadays, it feels stale after a couple of seasons and i've struggled to get into the recent versions.

Yep, 2011 was a masterpiece.
