Computer games.

Get a wheel. The Logitech wheel (I forget the number) is really really good, and you can get a rig for it very cheap these days if you have a gaming chair just wheel in behind it. Racing games are absolutely something else even with a basic setup.
The Logitech classic is the g920. My kid has one. It can take a lot of punishment. The Thrustmaster ones and the g923 may give you a better experience, but they're not as hard to kill.

Which you prefer depends on what you're after.

That's the one. Great entry product. Although longers linked the fantic entry wheel which I didn't know existed at that price and they're definitely a wonderful product and where I will buy my next setup from.

I got the Fanatec DD pro set up in its very first batch. Nice piece of kit for the money and the price is more sensible now. I’ve since traded up. But I did have issues with the first unit, its replacement unit and a wheel. They have a repair centre in the UK but all support is via email and via Germany. Feels very different than modern support channels. They used to get there in the end.

Back then I was without it for a couple of weeks (and had some issues with the replacement getting through customs with its zero value invoice). Now I hear they are a nightmare. Selling so much kit after Covid and they couldn’t keep up. Have launched new products, new quick release connectors, lowered prices and have also moved distribution centre and they have been truly awful in the last 6 months, both for new purchases and repairs. Loads of customers had their huge orders turned back to sender by customs because their initial batches from the new place all had incomplete paperwork, but you had to find this out yourself. Then fight for refunds/replacements.

It’s defo on paper worth the extra money if you think you may want more than the Logitech in the short term. Buy once cry once. Heavily pushed as a posh first wheel setup. But I’d go Logitech every single time for a first punt purely because if there is an issue you just walk straight back into Argos and slap it on the counter for a replacement. And they get decent value used.

Any recommendations for 2-3 player co-op games that aren’t too technical that can be played with mates whilst having a few beers?
Not able to get out much at the minute. Been playing Borderlands 3 but it seems a bit easy and samey.

Remnant 2 was quite literally put on Gamepass today. Not tried it myself yet, but I know the first game was co-op and far from easy. Could be a match made in heaven for you.

It’s a shame Logitech never tried to anything more sophisticated until now. They and Thrustmaster have developed their own £1k* direct drive systems.

I’ve not stopped thinking about that Fanatec package lol It’s incredible value and I can’t see how the others can compete now.
