Computer games.

Same here. I have an iPhone 13 mini and an Apple Watch series 8 and they go so well together. I plan to get an iPad Pro for when I'm on site/in the van. Apple have really nailed mobile devices and the connectivity between products. They make it so easy.

Mobile devices and traditional computers have some overlapping uses, and occasionally I find the odd instance where the continuity of a Mac would be useful, but now I've had a PC for a couple of years I'd never trade one for a Mac of any kind. I'd happily have one to supplement, though.
Aye as a side thing I'd be very okay with it - like if I order some for work and get one for myself, sure, why not, but it's usually more trouble than it's worth, job-wise lol and for a home PC I'm never going Mac, it just be how it be.

Tbh they're made entirely to be mobile or at least faux-mobile (i.e. laptop) devices overall - ARM chips and all make it even better and quicker for mobile.

Same btw, but normal sized 13 and a series 7 Nike version watch (45mm, bigger one) - honestly it was still a bit more than I'd like to give for a watch, but got it off my manager at my old job for a good price and also had the ability to test it for a week or so, as you say they just go so well so it was nonsense to not get it!

I’m all for good value tech. What with how frequently and incrementally products are updated now you can feasibly have 3-4 year old gadgets which more than satisfy your needs.

If I do get an iPad Pro it’ll be an Apple certified refurb. No shame in admitting that.

I got my 45mm Watch from CEX as I had a £70 voucher which I forgot about. It was pristine condition. I’d never have considered spending that sum on a watch. It’s a real help at work when I almost always need both hands. When I Bluetooth music to my site speaker I can control it with my watch. I’m a real sucker for that kind of convenience. Makes life that bit easier.

We got smart bulbs earlier today and I've been tinkering and just shutting them on/off via my phone all day, setting schedules for lights on/off etc., tell me about being a sucker for small conveniences lol Love that my car has bluetooth radio/connection as well so I don't have to do random crap, just get in, start it up and basically hit "accept" on my phone (until I learn to automate it somehow) while putting the seatbelt on and all that and spotify and everything is on there, bliss.

Also no shame in admitting it all, as I said I got mine pretty much the same way, even if it ran a bit more. My "new" GPU for a build that I'll write here about is a solid unused ASUS 1070Ti, just sitting in the pile of amassing parts currently lol

By the way, I have a few artist friends that use iPads exclusively and if you'd said this a few days ago you would've walked into a deal lol They legit sold both of theirs and bought newer ones like 2 days ago.

Funny story also - one of the iPads went to a local "rockstar", who's from the older generation and my friend didn't recognise him until the name started kinda ringing a bell and she googled him lol Guy's a judge on The Voice here and all that, he just said "oh I'll need it to write down sheet music notes and the occasional lyric" and my friend laughed it off as him being a weirdo.

Interesting news for mil sim fans. The devs who made Squad have bought Post Scriptum, which I believe was originally a WW2 mod of Squad. Post Scriptum is more complex than HLL, so hopefully the CoD no mic bros will stay away. Trying not to get too excited, but if Offworld Industries can polish it up to even half as good as what Squad is, it'll be a bit special.

Post Sciptum is decent but it never really felt large scale like Hell Let Loose. A lot of the time it felt more like special ops in WW2 than full blown infantry warfare.

Speaking of tactical shooters, this has an awful lot of optimism behind it.... AAA devs with huge budget trying to make Tarkov style game set in Laos using Unreal Engine 5.

That looks very good indeed.

The atmosphere and feel are what hook me in to games. Like you said, HLL felt like you were in a proper battle. I've got Squad but modern day setting never grips me like WW2 does.

For me it was always WW1/2 that gets me engaged for milsims but the obvious outlier here was COD MW 1/2 back in the day, and I don't even mean the Multiplayer - I've barely touched it. The campaigns were engaging, told a story, were fun, gunplay was honestly so on point in just feel and look that it made it amazing for me.

Believe that's ingrained in me from early days cuz of Medal of Honor and then the multiplayer experience of actually populated servers in Wolfenstein Enemy Territory... Those were the days lol

I'll keep my eye on both of those games you and @longers mentioned here but we'll see if I get them.

Also currently stuck in either FM23 (sod paying 60 eur for FM24 right now) or grinding the CS2 ladder lol Classics never die I guess.

Funny you say that, as my most played COD game is MW2 (the original one, as daft as it sounds having to point that out). COD 4 was a bit of a game changer in those days, and MW2 just added to it. The class customisation, levelling up and unlocking of new equipment was so rewarding.

I remember using the Barrett 50 cal and feeling like I was some sort of elite sniper. Looking back now it was ridiculous that it sometimes took 2-3 bullets to kill someone. Imagine being hit with a 50 caliber in any body part and being able to anything besides die a painful death.

Aye only a mac user knows bungie entertainment's early games that are the predecessors and succeeded by Halo, the absolute nothing nobodies.

A lot of games were developed on macs because of ease of use and other technical reasons and had to have partial or full backports that don't look as good, but I don't expect you to understand anything as you legitimately thought of Pong and Donkey Kong when we're talking about games on a personal computer device (btw, those are generally Mac or Windows based, unless we're looking at early days Japan, clarifying because you seem confused).

Also in my post you'll notice how I wrote that I cba looking up early games for Mac, not arsed to look up PC too.

Have a terrific day, friend, hopefully you'll learn that console and arcade aren't personal computers one day.

Also "cult classic" doesn't mean "famous in the general/mainstream medium", as you're also confused about that. To put it in terms you might understand better - Hibbert holds "cult hero" status for us but outside of Everton he's an absolute unknown.

;)
No offense, but the fact you seem to think that home computers didn't exist before Windows shows how little you apparently know. There is an entire generation of machines that you are completely ignoring, ones that played all the games I mentioned. Go educate yourself.

The fact that you "cba looking up" all these supposed cult classic mac games suggests that they did not, in fact, exist, or were neither "cult" or "classic". If they really were you wouldn't need to look them up.

Have a nice day yourself.

I work in the industry and studied computers for half my life (and arguably still do), but great assumption.

This was a discussion for personal computers, specifically Mac vs Windows, I don't know how difficult this is to grasp for you but it seems like it is - read it again. MAC VERSUS WINDOWS.

Cult =/= famous, saying it again despite the fact you have problems reading.

Do you have a PC already? I've been considering one myself, along with a new GPU, racing wheel and seat etc. someone needs to confiscate my bank card.

Nope, I don't own a PC, if I get this Steam Deck it will be my route back into PC-standard gaming/modding.

As for someone confiscating your bank card, you can't take it with you is my motto!
