Put your foot down and demand the mobo and chip specs. Another helpful lead will be what's crammed into the hidden icons area, what's running that shouldn't be. hdd size, singles or raid, ssd, how many games installed on main drive. latest drivers, graphics card. Decent psu.

Though I'm loathe to turn this into one of those 'diagnose the problem pages' loaded to the gills with boot screen grabs and bios shots.

To much crap overloading the fsb and to little hdd space left. time to delete the old crud. or shift it to a side hdd. 8gb isn't a lot any more though.

The computer is brand new. Acer. Linked it previous page I think.

There's nothing on it. It's basically been used last few months for web browsing and using office.

My old gaming laptop I replaced it with had 32gb memory and was faultless. That's what prompted me to think ram.

I'll have a play about as suggested above.. 👍👍

What cooling do you have? Not read up on the 3700X but the 7700X goes up in temp fast, so I looked at overclockers to find out what the proper nerds use lol and have a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 as I don't want to go liquid/AIO.

Where at, I don't see it..just where you listed some specs. Manufacturers typically give pre-builts names, Acer Aspire 2300 etc (etc, at least they did back in the day).
