The inside straight held. USA to semis. Delivered from humiliation.

I know it's hard to get a cheer from elsewhere, but I'm a happy guy - never thought this would happen today. (y)

semi final predictions-

spain 3-1 Usa

South africa 0- 3 brazil

Well done to the Usa for getting through after it seemed almost impossible

Who did?

Looks like Spain-Brazil in the final. But I think it's fun that underdogs manage to get passed the groupstage and knock out "bigger" teams.

Miracles happen hey? I dont think no one would have predicted the US would reach the semi-finals but hats off to them for the work they put in. I am hoping the States dump out Spain now. I am not sure, but i seem the only person who dislikes this Spanish team, yes they play decent football but they have been dirty, they are always rolling on the floor and are over rated imo. Brazil have been the superior team so far and i tip them to win the tournament, a USA v Brazil final would be nice though the purists would disagree.

i didn't think it would happen but i still held onto my hope, and hope paid off for probably the first time in a long time since i started following football. we got a little bit (actually a lot) of luck but we pulled off the impossible.

at this point imo anything can happen against spain, i don't think they've really been tested yet but we can give them a match to remember at the very least.

I didnt think the U.S.A had a hope of even scoring against Egypt, then they do them 3-0. Just when you think you've seen everything, this happens

I recorded the game, wasn't even going to watch but nothing else was on so can't say I expected that. Thought we could beat Egypt on the basis on their defense of free kicks aganst Sam Alyderdice's Brasil but all the goals have come from open play.

Spain-US played a friendly in NYC last year it was 1-0 Spain or 0-0 I think. We played them tough but on the other hand they had like 493 scoring chances. I like Spain 3-1, our defense isn't really that good against good team that play the ball on the ground but our chances of beating spain are alot greater than getting through was so I guess you never know.

Donovan-Bradley are really developing a nice chemistry together and Donovan is playing w/ heart which is all I ever wanted to see from him. Probably not for us (I think he needs full-time footie and I don't think we could get that here) but Bradley is going to be a heck of a player in the prem someday. The Clark-Bradley-Donovan combo on the counterattack is probably the best chance of scoring in open play.

For as well as we played we were better in the 1st half vs. Italy so I don't think we were having that bad of a tourney beforehand. Brasil is going to beat the hell out of you at times.

It would be nice to sign Oneweyu for a year then sell him off while Jags is recovering or keep him as cover if Lescott splits in 2010. He's out of his contract and from what i heard only Brum and Wolves are interested becasue if Baines/Yobo/Lescott get banged up we're in for a long 1st half of the season.

Hopefully Dempsey gets moved for striker for the Spain match or they'll scoring goals for fun with all the space on the right that he left Egypt.

If Edu was worth 5M I wonder how much Clark is worth. Right now Clark is the far superior CM.

Just read that Gooch turned down Brum and signed for Febernache. He'll do well there in Turkey plus get C-League footie.
