SIR ALEX FERGUSONManchester United chief executive David Gill, speaking to MUTV: "We have to look forward now and I think any manager coming in will inherit a great squad and great staff around him. It is a dream job. I won't speculate on the announcement but I think we will move relatively quickly.
"In Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex we got in managers who got involved in all aspects of the club. That degree of loyalty is crucial to the success of Manchester United. He (the next manager) needs the required football experience in terms of domestic and European requirements, so it is a small pool."
    Rules out Moyes then.

If Fergie want's Moyes, it will be Moyes and Fergie does.

Could be a boss summer this like, get an exciting manager like Pereira or someone in who'd bring much needed change to EFC. Like a revamp.
Regeneration of the squad would occur too, tv deals and possible felli money leads to a decent transfer budget for once and we hopefully give the squad the young life it needs.

But it could go all tits up and we end up with Megson managing with Reo Coker CM

whoever we get im intrigued to see what he does with our players, we are one of very few clubs who doesnt get to see this..

Here lies the problem.

Moyes ticks the corporate boxes. He'll be cheap to buy ie zero. He'll be there for the long haul. He has an eye for a bargain. He will keep the team competitive.

But what he doesn't tick is the end game. The results, the silverware, the experience in Europe, the winning mentality.

This will all be on SAF who makes the decision. If he thinks he can do that, then he's got the job.

Personally.... It's too big a job for him as he's still learning his trade.

Put into perspective, it's almost like us employing Martinez. A massive step up from Wigan to Everton, who ticks certain boxes but is questionable when it comes down to fundamentals of winning games that a club of our size needs.

Moyes seems to be the right sort of personality to carry on in Ferguson's tradition but surely they'd want someone with Champions League pedigree, who has managed a big club before and won domestic trophies. His teams are often one dimensional and he's never had to deal with big budgets or world class egos.

It's a huge step up and United can't afford to lose ground on their rivals while he learns the ropes. Maybe the job has come about 5 years too soon for him?

My feelings too.

Jose to Chelsea would be massive. City bag Bayerns coach etc, that would be massive. Both managers done it it home and away.

Moyes is a pup compared to them.

Huge gamble.

Haven't had the chance to read all the stuff on here today.

But I'm glad to see arguably the world's biggest football team, and arguably the most successful manager of all time, agree with us pro-Moyes posters on here about his managerial ability and potential.

Sadly the downside of being proved correct will be Everton reverting to the mean and being ****e again.

We'll look back on these barren trophy days as the golden era in a few years time.
