CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

I think Ferguson will have known for a while that this was his last. It's not something you just wake up and decide IMO. How soon they started sounding people out is anyone's guess.

A man in the know says it was all sorted after the derby on Sunday. So he's at least gone into that game with it over his head.

Four days was being said yesterday which would put it around then .

Like many others though I don't think kenwright had any idea at all .

there were only ever 2 names in the frame as long as ferguson got his say, mourinho or moyes. Mourinho wouldnt stay here for the next decade he gets bored once he loses his shine and moves on. moyes would stay for for that long if he had the chance and with ferguson behind him for the next few years he can help him sort out any problems and with transfer dealings to sign big players. dressing room bust ups ETC

I certainly agree with some of that , yesterday coaches & higher ups (not those close to moyes ) were convinced it was mourinho as moyes didn't mention anything in training and was still looking at players . It's only when fergie told his lads it's got out .

I think in many ways many of us got it wrong , the 'big moyes fans' thought it was about a transfer budget and those less ' committed' to the manager thought he was looking for a job but would never get the likes of man Utd .

Do you think it's gone on for ages ? I really don't I think it's happened relatively quickly but if your a 'dedicated' moyes supporter and you think it's gone on for ages you'd have to accept that he's been lying to us and messing the club about wouldn't you ?

Like I say though I dont think this has been a done deal but I so think he was waiting for a job and he's got this . It's like a lottery win for him

I've been saying for years that no way in hell would any top club offer moyes a job as his limitations are quite glaring, (tactics being the obvious one) so I got it completely wrong, the new manager issue is a bit irrelevant in my opinion as he's going to face the same budget restraints that moyes did, everton will inevitably move down the table [before they move up it] until we get investment

With Fergie choosing his own replacement tactics were never going to be important, as Fergie as never been much use tactically. However I am staggered they've gone for Moyes. I thought he would get a mid table Bundesliga team job when he left us at the end of the season. Still I hope he does well as he seems a decent human being.

This is what we need to remember, he a good lad.

The biggest factor when thinking about it is... he's not won anything. It's a huge positive.

Moyes will be hungry for success and have the biggest tool box in the world to make it happen.

SAF wants to breed a United winner. Not a ready made one. He does that with his players.

Got to say as a "big moyes fan" I believed the contract issue was more to do with pushing our team forward and having cash to move us forward as apposed to keeping his options open for other jobs. Having said that I had no idea or suspicion that fergie was going to retire this season. So I don't think he was keeping his options open for what jobs "Might" be available in the summer...He was clearly tipped off that this was likely to be fergie's last and that he was very much in there thoughts.

Did BK know?? Couldn't tell you, judging last night you would think not buy he's a very good kidder so who knows!

As for moyes playing us, well it's looking like it was utd all along, if he'd dangled the contract thing on to see what may be available and just wanted out to any bigger club with money I would of been very dissapointed in him and accept we'd been played. With it just being about utd only and the size of the job and how I can understand the delicatness of the situation I can't really see any other way it could of played out!

The best player of his generation and the man who could easily have gone on to be our greatest ever player???

Or, a manager who improved us by an average 7 league places over 11 years with mostly industrial football.

Yeah, this is much, much worse!

For sure

Moyes must have known about this for a while. Man United are a business with an annual income of £400m per season, have stock market obligations and are replacing their most successful manager of twenty seven years. They are one of the slickest run teams in world football. They didn't just pull moyes' name out of their arse yesterday. He knew his future was elsewhere. He may not have known the exact timing, but knew it was on the cards. He probably knew it after the Wigan loss. So while we were all hurting at one of the most pathetic surrenders on the pitch for a good few years, Moyes knew he had other options, but still kept dragging the issue out.

Think about that before we have all the talk about standing ovations.

What else could he do? Or how else do you think he should of handled it?

My sentiments entirely this morning

This certainly explains the very cosy MUFC/EFC relationship and I suspect the seeds of this go back years rather than months. I remember being utterly astounded by utd's team selection for the semi final. The guy opposite me on the train commented at the time that Fergie was handing it to us. Plenty of transfers coming our way at reasonable prices, gentleman's agreement over Howard. It does make me wonder.....

He´s played us for sure. But we were there to be played. As long as we have nice guy Bill Kenwright in charge and nothing but dust in our coffers we´ll never be respected.
